TRI - Teardrops
Hello, Fireflies!
It's a new month, and a new set of colors for the Tri-polish Tuesdays challenge. Which, of course, usually means three colors I wouldn't have chosen to put together on my own, so I spent some time scratching my head and wondering how to do this.
Oddly, enough, I'd been using a lot of yellow and red together lately for superhero challenges, another odd combo... that you see in a lot of comics.
This nail art was inspired by a stamped mani by alygatrrr.. that I foolishly though I could do freehand. Um. yeah. Not so much.
I started with a gorgeous blue from Above The Curve, called Suspense, and China Glaze Lemon Fizz, a surprisingly nice pale butter yellow.
"Just paint the teardrops," they said. "It'll be easy," they said.
They lied. Getting them the right size, with the right shape, and with the right space between them felt like the equivalent of painting the Sistine Chapel. Way outta my league.
There was much swearing and gnashing of teeth.
I used OPI Over and Over A-Gwen to dot the middle of the teardrops. Which, then, of course, I neglected to let dry all the way and smeared my first nail with topcoat.
More swearing and gnashing of teeth ensued.
Thank goodness for topcoat, which hides a multitude of evils. If the road the hell is paved with good intentions, I think the road to heaven is paved with Seche Vite. Or Ice Cream.
Bottle shot: China Glaze Lemon Fizz, Above The Curve Suspense, and OPI Over and Over A-Gwen.
Have you ever tried to imitate someone's look or nail art, and just struggled every step of the way?

Nice try at it! Sometimes, when I attempt to recreate another person's design, it doesn't always turn out that great too.
ReplyDeleteCute! It kind of reminds me of a ladybug
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you reimagined red, blue and yellow! I immediately think superhero and comics, too, and I love that you did a pretty design outside of that! It totally works and your teardrops are great!
ReplyDeleteUh, my tear drops would probably look a million times worse than yours, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteHAHA I can't do nail art to save my life
ReplyDeleteOoooh, yeah. My every attempt at nail art is rife with weeping and gnashing of teeth! LOL
ReplyDeleteIsn't Lemon Fizz lovely? I own a backup bottle, as I don't want to be without it. :D
Girllllll I can't do nail art if my life depended on it. I am awful and everything looks like blobs. I really like these colors together though. My tear drops would have looked like big blobs.
ReplyDeleteThe red made this go from cute to freaking awesome! Love!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love lemon fizz!
ReplyDeleteI like this color combo and desiggn! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI agree, teardrops are the WORST EVER! Bane of my existence. I know your pain very well
ReplyDeleteKinda looks like peacock feathers! You always do such a great job!

ReplyDeleteI think they're cute, they remind me of Snow White!
ReplyDeleteI was a little nervous before you applied the topcoat. LOVE this look!
ReplyDeleteThose are the colors of my man - Superman :)
ReplyDeleteOoh I like this one!
ReplyDeleteOOhhh pretty!
ReplyDeleteI second, it reminds me of lady bug! Cute still!!!
ReplyDeleteVery funky! I love blue and yellow together. I have no idea why, because i'm not a huge fan of yellow at all, but when it's teamed with blue I love it!
ReplyDeleteTop coat is definitely amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think it came out great... I am terrible at actual nail art like that... and if I want to do it - I can only decorate my left hand. lol
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great ! I wish I could pull off yellow nail polish.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great on you!!
ReplyDeleteI think they turned out looking great, but totally appreciate the swearing it took to get there (I'd have done too).
ReplyDeleteWorth it though - they look awesome x
