Things I can't be without, Nail Edition
Hello, Fireflies!
Some of the beauty bloggers from The Beauty Blog Coalition and Beauty Blogazons came together to write about some of the beauty products we can't be without.
I am a bit of a hoarder by nature, so it wasn't a surprise to take a quick look around my desk and see some things that I have definitely collected - and buy multiples of when I find them. This picture doesn't even do my collection justice. I just picked a few of each - and only nail stuff for this post. There are lots of makeup things I hoard, too.
Do you think they have an AA-type thing for this addiction?
Because of my love of nail art and stamping, I collect black and white polishes and my fave stamping gold polish. I am always trying to see what polishes work best for nail art. When I find polish on sale, I'll often snap up a few bottles of these!
I never knew anything about balms and oils before getting into nail art. Now, I can't get enough. I even make my own oil blend that sits on my desk, too. There's some kind of oil or balm where I sit to watch TV, my bedside, my purse, and even in the bathrooms!
I love the ELF concealer brush for cleanup, and have 3 or 4 on my desk in various states of use, and plenty of new ones waiting in the wings. I have tried other brushes, and I just keep coming back to this one! I buy them on sale when I can, but at $1 or less, I'll buy a bunch at a time. I tell myself that I'll give them to nail friends, but I'm really hard-pressed to part with them!
I also hoard acetone, and make my own DIY blend with glycerine and a bit of water and fragrance oil. I have heard of the horrors of running out of remover, and having to *gasp* not remove a mani because of it. Horrors!*shudder*
What beauty product do you stock up on? What product gives you the jibblies to think of running out of it?
Great nail essentials you need on hand!
ReplyDeleteI probably don't need as many as I have... hoarder...
DeleteI have so many base and top coats, it's ridiculous. I only ever use the same ones over and over but I just can't get myself to get rid of them. HAHA!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! and I just keep collecting them.
DeleteLooks like a few of us picked the same cleanup brushes :)
ReplyDeleteThey are the bees' knees. Every other brush I've tried is either too wide or too floppy.
DeleteI hoard topcoat and base coat like it's going out of style... Always need to pick up more and tend to grab the same ones to actually use every time xx
ReplyDeleteI actually have a couple of mini bottles of topcoat that I refill from different kinds. WEll, one is always Seche Vite. I find that they don't get as gummed up, and if they do, a little fresh topcoat helps loosen it up.
DeleteThis is a great post! I'm much more of a makeup addict, so my nails are always a struggle. I'll have to look into the oils, they sound awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThe oils and butters were the first thing I got into when I started loving nails. My nails are so thin, and my cuticles were so unkempt. Finding oils and butters that I liked and worked for me has made a world of difference. Even finding an applicator you like - tubs, pens, brush, dropper - can make a difference in how often you apply. They work best if applied several times throughout the day - we're always washing our hands, and washing off those essential oils!
DeleteGreat article!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I love this post. Really great. I am a cuticle oil/balm/lotion hoarder. It's bad news. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! You are too sweet. I think we should have a cuticle product-off. Pictures of how much oil/balm/lotion we have! lol. I have it in so many corners of drawers, all over the house.. lol
DeleteI just picked up this elf brush and I really like it! Have you tried the Beauty Secrets Acetone one? I mix in some of the pure acetone in it to make it stronger but it really gentle on the skin. =)
ReplyDeleteI did .. by accident! I'll have to try adding a little more acetone to it. Great idea, thanks!
DeleteI love your nail hoarding stash! I have an elf brush for clean up but it's an old mineral eyeshadow brush that they don't make anymore, I'll have to try the concealer brush for cleanup.
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I'm jealous that you have an ELF cleanup brush I can't get? lol.
DeleteHa, it's funny you mentioned the horror of running out of polish remover, because I'm sort of in that boat right now. I had to leave my bottle of acetone behind in my move to England (too much weight in my nail suitcase already), so I've been wearing this polish for the past 4 days. That's kind of a lifetime for me. I am definitely going to have to get some soon or I'll lose my mind! And if I can get my hands on one, I'll definitely have to try the concealer brush for cleanup. It sounds like its a good one.
ReplyDeleteOh, you poor thing! I don't think I'd make it 4 days. I would have picked it off by now, and it would look worse for not being able to get off the remnants. I'm jealous that you get to go shopping in England, though - I'd love to visit a SuperDrug!
DeleteI'm the same with cuticle oils - I seem to have them stashed everywhere.
ReplyDeletethey become addictive!
DeleteI N-E-E-D some of those concealer brushes from E.L.F. =)
ReplyDeleteYou can't have mine. MINE MINE MINE (/Finding Nemo Seagulls..)
