Hello, Fireflies!
In beauty, when we talk about priming the skin, we're talking about getting it ready for what's to come - the application of makeup, say. In psychology, we also use the word priming to mean that what happens first influences what's to come. So, when I was asked if I wanted to review Teadora's Rainforest At Dawn Body Polish, I thought about how much I loved Teadora's Rainforest at Dawn Nourishing Lip Butter and said yes, yes, yes! Was I going to have a great experience again? Read on...
You may remember the lip butter being deliciously, edibly scented with sweet oranges.. so you may think that the body polish would be similarly scented. Teadora describes it as 'woodsy and floral'. It's definitely earthy. It's not a bad scent, but I was primed for sweet citrus, and got dirt. When they say, 'It's like waking up in a Rainforest," I think they meant it a little more literally than I would have liked!
For those that like a rough scrub, this is not for you. It's a gritty polish, but it doesn't feel scratchy. Teadora says that it exfoliates and reduces ingrown hairs. I didn't have any ingrown hairs, so I can't attest to that, but it does feel like a nice, gentle exfoliation, and my skin felt smooth and soft afterwards, too.
It kinda looks like dirt, too, doesn't it?
Teadora's Rainforest At Dawn Body Polish is made with their "Hydration Elixir," a blend of Buriti, Babassu, Brazil Nut, Rosehip Seed and Passion Fruit oils, as well as Pitanga, Cupuaçu, Andiroba and Açai. These ingredients nourish and replenish moisture in the skin, as well as help fight future damage from free radicals.
I love that Teadora has a sense of humor about their product, and also a mission.
If you'd like more information about Teadora, which means, "I adore you" in Portuguese, or to purchase any of their butters, oils, cleansers, or other skin care products, you can find them on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube.
How important is the scent to you when using a body polish? Is it more important than how it makes your skin feel, or the mission of the maker?
