In my journey to finding balance for my aging, oily skin, one of my favorite tools has been the mud mask. I confess, I get a little happy just sitting here thinking about mud masks. Is that weird?
Let's just keep that between us, then, shall we?
This mask has lots of skin-loving minerals from the Dead Sea that not only help pull toxins out of the skin, but also help nourish it at the same time, with antioxidants and herbal ingredients, like jojoba oil.
I'm not jar-phobic when it comes to packaging, but I'm just happier when a product comes in a tube. It's easier to dispense, I don't get it everywhere, and it stays fresher, longer. I prefer to squeeze a mask right onto a foundation-type brush and then paint it on my face.
Right away, one of the main differences between this mask and many others I've tried is apparent: the texture. Look at how thick this mask is!
Masks should be thick enough to cover, and stay in place for about 15-20 minutes. They should also be kept damp - dry clay isn't doing anything any more. This thick mask holds onto moisture pretty well, but I love refreshing all my masks with a few spritzes of my Mario Badescu herbal spray.
Sure, I look green, and not as cute as Kermit The Frog, but I tell ya, I'm happy like a pig in..well, mud, with this mud mask. Mask time is *me* time. 20 minutes of relaxation, feeling my face tighten, the pleasant aroma from the clay (or other aromatherapy) - and it's a great time to put a little oil or hair treatment on, too.
Afterwards, my skin felt bright and soft, ready for my serums and moisturizers to fill my pores with goodness. And maybe a little eye cream, because I have a one-puffy eye thing going on there, like some kind of weird pirate. Arrgh, matey.
My mani is inspired by the asymmetrical gradient on the packaging. I started off with a white base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, and then did a lopsided cloud mani using A-England Captive Goddess first, and then Prosperine at the tip. A-England's new Prosperine collection is amazing, and I love them all!
