If you've been wanting to try Retinol, but have avoided it because your skin is very dry, I think I have found the Retinol moisturizer for you!
Retinol is a wonderful ingredient that has shown to be effective against blemishes, dark spots, and the ravages of time on the skin. Even though over-the-counter treatments have a smaller concentration of Retinol than prescription forms, it can still be over-drying for some people, so Trilane created this natural, very soothing moisturizer that helps nourish and keep the Retinol from drying the skin out.
The first five ingredients of Trilane Retinol +Vitamin C Anti-Aging Moisturizer are all oils or emollients, and that makes for a pretty rich base. Though it is labeled as a moisturizer, it looks like a fairly thin serum. Where I run into trouble is that it is really geared towards dry skin, and I have oily skin. So the treatment kinda sits there and feels greasy for quite some time. This makes it okay for evening application, especially if I skip my normal facial oils, but I can't apply makeup over it.
I do like that it is fragrance-free, and has lots of great ingredients like jojoba, aloe, and squalene, which are really wonderful at nourishing and helping skin look and feel younger. Cucumber extract soothes inflammation, and Vitamin C brightens skin pigmentation and provides anti-oxidants.
I love the frosted, substantial glass bottle and pump packaging. Not only does it help protect it, it looks pretty classy, too. My mani attempts to capture some of that classic, but edgy look with a silver French tip that has been mattified to mimic the frosted glass. The silver is Essie There's No Place Like Chrome, and the matte is a topcoat from Warpaint Beauty.
If you have dry skin, but you've wanted to try a Retinol product, this may be for you. I found it to be a bit too rich for my oily skin, and it just took too long to absorb.
Trilane Retinol +Vitamin C Anti-Aging Moisturizer retails for $49.99 on Amazon, but is currently on sale for $42.49, You can use the code: SAVERETC to take an additional 20% off, too (expires 12/31/15.)
