If you were thinking that you could get away with not knowing how to do a cat eye because the trend would be over quickly, well, you'd be wrong. Wait, that was me. I love the look of a bold cat eye, but getting all the pieces in place hasn't been easy. CoverGirl took pity on me, apparently, and sent me a couple of products to make it easier for me to create that bold eye: The Super Sizer by LashBlast mascara, and Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner by Lashblast.
I knew as soon as I opened the package that this was going to be something special! I love the coordinated teal look, and the model's teal hair!
It's been a while since I used a CoverGirl mascara. I haven't been using a lot of drugstore mascaras lately. Have I been spoiled by high-end lines?
The first thing I noticed about this mascara was the wand, of course. It reminds me a little bit of the L'Oreal Butterfly mascara wand, which is one of my fave mascaras. This wand isn't quite as flared out, though. The directions call for starting with the flat side of the wand at the base of the lashes, and rotating the wand as you move towards the tip. I'll admit that I don't have that part down yet, but even applying it the regular ol' way, I was still really impressed with this formula!
The Intensify me! liner is unlike any liner I'd used before. It has a unique paddle applicator that isn't pointed, but is thinner on one side, and wider on the other.
If you like to change up your look with both thin and thick eyeliner, this is a pretty cool way to do it. I had a little trouble trying to tightline with the paddle - I don't think it's quite thin enough for me to work it that way - but getting a thin line was pretty easy.
I was pretty impressed with how uber-black these formulas were. Black, glossy, and all the same black, too.
I started off creating a thin line to see how close to a tightline I could get. Then, I tried a cat eye look. My eyelids are a little hooded towards the outside, so getting the angle on the end is always a challenge. I wasn't able to 'flick' the tip with the paddle, but I suspect that will just take some practice.
The formula on the mascara is quite good. I like the weight of it - not too dry, not too wet. I could easily get nice, thick lashes with one coat, but putting on two didn't make them feel bulky or heavy.
Here's the whole look I put together. I've been sick for weeks, and haven't left the house, except to go to the doctor, so when I put my makeup on, I asked Mr. LitFromWithin to take his glammed-up wife out...to Walmart. Don't judge, it's was the only thing open!
I'm a little bit of a dork, too, because there was an endcap display of these CoverGirl products, and I had to point it out to my husband. "Look! There's the mascara I'm wearing RIGHT NOW."
Have you tried these new CoverGirl products for a bold eye? What's your favorite way to create a bold eye?
