When it comes to Aloe Vera, I pretty much treat it like the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding treats Windex. Put it on everything! It's pretty much a miracle worker for most skin-related issues, as far as I'm concerned. So, I was pretty excited to get to try La Lune Natural's Aloe!
When I moved into my house 15 years ago, one of the only things the previous owner left behind was a potted aloe plant. Well, he also left behind a basketball hoop, but he came by and asked if he could have it, and I was a softie. Thank goodness he didn't want that plant, though, because I still have it!
Having fresh aloe is great, but it's not convenient sometimes. The plant leaves are very spiky, and the leaves have a lot of cellulose in them that you have to break down to get the juice out. It's very messy, and sticky!
La Lune Natural's Aloe Vera is 99.75% pure, organic Aloe, and .25% preservatives, so the gel stays good for up to two years - no refrigeration necessary! Though, that's another benefit of having the gel in a bottle - you can stick it in the fridge. If you've ever applied cold aloe to a sun/wind burn, you know that deep relief it can bring!
In addition to being mostly organic, this Aloe Vera gel is vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the USA. The gel itself is clear, fragrance-free, and not nearly as sticky as fresh aloe when it dries. I also appreciate that it comes with a pump and a flip-top nozzle dispenser, so I can choose what's most convenient for my needs.
Aloe is great for so many different skin issues - I've used it in DIY seaweed and clay masks, on fire ant and other insect bites, my husband uses it on his eczema rash - anything drying, itchy, or irritating immediately feels better with some Aloe on it. La Lune Naturals sends along an e-book with recipes, though, if you want some ideas on how to use this big bottle!
Lately, I've also been dealing with some swelling in my legs (I had a blood clot years ago, and this is just one of the lovely aftereffects) and my skin has felt so tight I felt it might burst at times. One of the things I'm using to keep my skin soft and stretchy is this aloe. It doesn't make for a good massage base - it dries way to quickly - but it's cooling and soothing on my skin.
My nailart today is inspired by the La Lune Naturals Aloe Vera Gel packaging. Finger Paints Underwater Enchantress is a funky green textured polish that reminds me of the bumpy leaves of the aloe plant. I also used a no-name yellow-green from LA Girl for highlights on the aloe, and Finger Paints Sketchy Character for the wood grain. I used my tiny paintbrush and some white polish to make the leaf logo and the lettering.
For more information, or to purchase, you can find La Lune Naturals on their website, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and on Amazon, where this 12 oz. bottle retails for $18.95.
