Wow'ed by Wu for Lancome?

Ageless Derma Foundation is a Press Sample.  All other products purchased by me.
Hello, Fireflies!

I have an addiction to palettes, especially shadow palettes that also have a little color for the face.  When I saw this Jason Wu for Lancome palette, with the neutrals on one side, color on the other, and a blush and bronzer, I had to get it!

With twelve shadows, a blush, and a bronzer, this palette has a lot to choose from.  I don't understand why these high-end palettes can't put the names of the shadows BY the actual shadows.  These are printed on the clear protective plastic, and there is also a diagram printed on the back of the box.

Swatched on bare skin, I was pretty disappointed with the color payoff in the shadows.  All of the light shadows were soo light! And some of the neutrals just disappeared on my fair skin.  The blush and bronzer are really nice, and, surprisingly, the black matte shadow is very nice and works great as a liner.

On the eyes, over primer, the shadows perform much better, as is to be expected.  I love purple eyeshadow, especially paired with a little bit of gold.  The shimmer in the corner of the eyes is a nice, subtle eye-brightener.  Not sure why it photgraphed darker with my eyes closed.

OFRA's liquid lipstick in New Orleans can get really wonderfully vampy and bold with a heavy application, or take on a more berry shade when dabbed on or sheered out.  It's one of my fave lippies, for sure.  I really like how the bold lip is more of the star, and the shadows just define and compliment my eyes in this look.  Purple can be a brown-eyed girl's best friend!

What do you think about the combination of colors in this palette?  Are you about the subtle, shimmery neutrals, or the louder greens and purples?
