Is Perfective Ceuticals Perfect? #beauty

Press Sample.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

I have a wide range of tastes when it comes to cosmetics and skincare, and while I definitely enjoy many drugstore offerings, I do love a nice luxurious splurge, too.  When I'm considering a higher-end product like Perfective Ceuticals Divine Age Guardian Creme, I am often swayed by three things - packaging, ingredients, and scent.  How does this luxury creme stack up? Read on!

The first thing that caught my eye about this product was the beautiful and unique packaging.  The shiny blue sphere just looks so interesting and unlike anything I own.  Not only is it pretty, it's also surprisingly durable.  I actually prefer this plastic to glass jars because when my hands get slippery from cream, the last thing I want to be holding is a heavy glass jar.

You know me, I'm not thrilled that this is a jar, though.  I do like that there is a stay-fresh lid on the inside, but I'd prefer if there was at least a spatula tucked up inside the lid so that I didn't have to dip my fingers in it.  The magpie in me is so attracted to the shiny that I can pretty much forgive the jar, though.  I just want to display this creme.

Skincare can be so complex - we all have variations in our skin, and ingredients that our skin loves and doesn't jive with.  I don't have many sensitivities when it comes to ingredients, except that many rich creams make my oily skin break out.  Even though this cream is very nourishing, it's not heavy, and didn't cause me to break out.  I really loved the gel-creme texture of this cream.

When it comes to scientific ingredients in skincare, growth factors are big buzz.  This cream combines Epidermal Growth Factors and Matrixyl to stimulate collagen and elastin, which are important to the thickness and bounce that youthful skin has.  Olive Squalene and Emu oil are known for their deep moisturizing and healing properties, Hyaluronic Acid is amazing at retaining moisturie in the skin, and Retinol and Licorice extract brighten and reduce sun damage.

Though this cream isn't tested on animals, it does contain Emu oil, which is an animal product.  It also contains some parabens and silicones, which some people are sensitive to.

The only thing I was really sensitive to with this cream is the scent.  Scent can be so polarizing in skincare, and is so very personal.  Scent is actually the only sense that has a direct connection to the part of our brain that organizes memories, which is why a particular scent can instantly transport you to another place and time. This cream is strongly scented with a kind of rose fragrance that makes me think of very mature women.  I know that I'm on my way to that, and I'm exactly who should be using this cream, but I'm not ready to think of myself as that... mature... yet!

Other than the fragrance, this creme worked well for me.  My skin is soft, nourished, firm, and didn't break out.  My wrinkles and fine lines are still being kept at bay.  I feel that my face looks healthy and youthful.
