I think my alter-ego would be a city girl, at home in skyscrapers and graffiti-covered neighborhoods, shopping at the corner bodega. She would be the target audience for Elba Naturals - a company dedicated to helping those who live an urban lifestyle get the best natural skincare to help mitigate the damage an urban environment can do to the skin.
In reality, I'm a suburbanite, happier with my tree-lined streets and my SuperTarget. But, I can still enjoy some great skincare!
My nighttime cream lately has been the Elba Naturals CoQ10 cream. I like the sleek metallic airless pump which helps protect the cream from contaminants. The cream is thick, odorless, and with a slight yellow tint to it.
CoQ10 is a co-enzyme that our body naturally produces. It's used when our cells produce energy, and it's also an antioxidant. Levels of CoQ10 are a pretty accurate measure of aging, because we naturally produce less as we age. It's a fairly new player in skincare, but it's thought to reduce wrinkles and fight free-radicals.
There are also other ingredients in this cream I know my skin likes - Jojoba and Apricot Kernel Oil, Squalene, and Hyaluronic Acid are well-known for their ability to pull moisture into the skin and keep it there.
I enjoyed this as a night cream. It layered well over my serums, wasn't too rich or heavy, and absorbed quickly. I liked that it is fragrance-free. None of my other skincare contain CoQ10, so I feel like this cream is bringing something new and exciting to the party!
When I first started using the Elba Naturals cremes, I tried to layer them together to get the benefits of the CoQ10 and the sunscreen. That was a nope for my skin. Too rich and heavy. I switched to just using the Daily Moisturizer in the morning, and the CoQ10 at night, and that worked great.
The Daily Moisturizer with SPF30 is white and thick. Very thick. The texture is so thick, I actually have trouble spreading on my skin because it pulls my skin. I tried warming it up in my hands first, but then it just absorbed into my hands! It's actually a great hand cream. It also has a scent to it, a lotion-y sunscreen scent. I didn't really notice it too much, but my husband commented that he disliked the scent, though it wouldn't keep him from using it.
Like the CoQ10, the packaging is sleek, simple, and effective. The airless pump helps protect the product from contamination, which I like.
I can't usually remember to apply additional sunscreen, so I do like using a daytime moisturizer that has a good amount of SPF like this one does. I'd just like it better if it were unscented, and a little thinner in texture.
A simple geometric dotticure inspired by the Elba Naturals CoQ10 packaging. I used Glitter Gal Big Smoke and Maybelline Purple Madness for the base, and Zoya Pippa for the dots. |
Natural, Organic, and cruelty-free, these moisturizers are as good for your skin as they are for the environment. For more information, or to purchase, you can find them on their website, Facebook, and Amazon, where the CoQ10 cream is on sale for $26, and the Daily Moisturizer with SPF30 is on sale for $24. If you're not happy with your results, Elba Naturals offers a 180-day money-back guarantee.
