Revive and Resurface with RevivSerums

Press sample.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

As I get older, my skin shows my age in a myriad of ways - losing elasticity, getting dull, drying out.  I do what I can to keep my skin hydrated and nourished, but sometimes I just have to help my skin shed the old, dead, dull layer on top.  I've been doing this lately with RevivSerums Resurfacing Serum.

The two acids in this serum, Mandelic and Malic acid, were chosen because they are Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) with larger molecules than lactic and glycolic acids that are traditionally used in these kinds of peels.  Because the molecules are larger, they are absorbed more slowly, so that they can be used even with sensitive and rosacea-afflicted skin.
The AHAs work by loosening the bonds that the outermost layer of skin has with the rest of the skin, speeding up the shedding process.  This is a skincare product I can definitely tell is doing something.  When I first started using it, I experienced some stinging, especially on my forehead.  Now, after a few uses, I get tingling and tightening sensations.  I, personally, haven't experienced any peeling or redness, though, which can happen with any AHA.

Only a little bit of this serum is needed.  Because of the larger AHA molecules it contains, it actually absorbs fairly slowly - it can take up to 15 minutes to fully absorb.  If too much is applied, the skin can feel a little sticky - putting some lotion on top can remedy that. It's also a product that you shouldn't use every day.  I prefer to keep powerhouses like this serum to once a week.

Even though it's a powerful resurfacer, it doesn't smell harsh.  It has a pleasant, almost fruity smell, like apples.  Once I apply it, though, I can't smell anything.

In addition to the AHA's, this serum also contains moisturizers and nutrients, like Hyaluronic Acid, one of my favorites.  It has Coconut Endosperm, a potent cell food, collagen for skin structure, and Bisobolol, which increases the integrity of the skin.  They also use a Sea Kelp Bioferment, which is an antioxidant and moisturizer, which RevivSerums compares to Creme de LaMer's  "miracle broth."

I love this gradient dotticure, inspired by the RevivSerum packaging.  I used a base of white, and then made dots with Sally Hansen Xtreme Water Orchid, Pixi Wakeup Wisteria, Sally Hansen Salon Plumtarius, Glitter Gal She'll Be Right, and OCC Pagan.
I'm pretty happy with the results so far from this serum.  I can tell it's working, but gently enough to avoid redness and peeling.  My skin feels softer and looks brighter.  It's another tool in my arsenal for keeping my skin looking and feeling better, longer.

For more information, or to purchase, you can find RevivSerums on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and on their website, where this serum retails for $49.

Have you tried AHA serums like this before?
