When I first started expanding my blog from just nail polish to a wider range of beauty products, one of the things I loved most was discovering new niche products that I'd never heard of before - whether it was a new ingredient, or a whole new way of looking at a product.  I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try a couple of products from Zakia's Morocco, because one was a new mask experience, and the other totally changed how I see soap!

I've tried African Black Soap before, and generally have had good results with it, but it can be drying.  If you've tried that kind of soap before, don't let that bias you, because Zakia's Moroccan Black Soap is a whole different thing!

It's not a bar, it's not a gel or liquid, but feels like a hybrid between a whipped butter and a jelly.  It's an all-natural soap made from pure olive oil, and contains no mineral oil, parabens, sulfates,or silicones.  It has a pleasant, earthy/olive oil scent, but they also have versions scented with Argan Oil, Lavender, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, and Eucalyptus.  I'm going to need the Orange Blossom version!

To use this soap, you pinch off a little bit of the butter and either rub it like that on your skin, or use a loofah or washcloth.  Zakia's Morocco carries a unique exfoliating glove called a Kessa, too.  I actually have been using a konjac sponge. I put a little pinch on my hydrated sponge and use it all over for a soft exfoliating experience.  The sponge helps it foam up a little, and spread easily.  For best results, let the soap sit on the skin for 3-5 minutes before rinsing off.

Some folks might experience mild redness for 10-15 minutes after using the soap, but I don't have particularly sensitive skin, and I didn't experience that.  What I did experience was the softest skin ever.  I was completely amazed at the transformation!  I mean, I like a good soap ...probably more than the next person... but I'm completely won over by this stuff.  Shaving with it was so smooth and luxurious, too. 

Yes, it's a little weird looking, and it's so unique.  But it's also probably the best cleanser I've ever used.  It currently sells for $15 on their website.

I was inspired by the logo for my nailart.  I found a stamp with a little Moroccan flair, and stamped using Maybelline Bold Gold over Celestial A Night On The Sun.
