Scrub-a-dub-dub For My Makeup Brush! #ScrabShell #ScrubShell

Press sample.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

Not so long ago, really, I only knew about using sponge applicators to apply eyeshadow.  I actually remember have one fall apart on me, and I had no idea how I was ever going to use that shadow again!  Silly me.

Fast forward a few years, and I am alllll about brushes.  Love them.  Use them for just about everything.  I've become a hoarder of them - trying a few from this brand, and a few from that, a fluffy one here, and a flat one there.  But, like underwear, you eventually have to either wash them, or throw them away and start over.
Washing them has gotten so much easier with my little Scrub Shell! It's 100% food-grade silicone in the shape of a hollow half-egg.  It's sturdy and firm silicone, with a little bit of give, and fits easily into the palm of my hand, or I can put my fingers through the hole in the bottom and hold it that way.  It comes in 5 different colors: pink, blue, yellow, black, and purple, which is the color I chose.

I really like the two different textures on the shell.  The tiny bumpy dots at the top are really great for smaller eye brushes, and the larger grooves are better for large face brushes.
I like to use my Dr. Bronner's liquid soap with my brushes.  I put a few drops on the shell, wet my brush, and scrub away.  I don't have to scrub very hard to get all the makeup out of the brush, but you want to press just hard enough to have the brush splay a little so that all the makeup comes out. Try to keep the ferrule dry - any water that gets up in there will start to dissolve the glue that holds the bristles in place.

The shell is actually really good for rinsing, too.  I wash a bunch of brushes first, and then rinse them all at once.  The shell rinses clean so quickly, and the dirty water drains right off.

It's so annoying that this nailart was actually the same color purple as the Scrub Shell in real life, but photographed as blue. What? The base is Dance Legend 273, a purple taupe with gold flecks.  The dots and stripes were done first with Ulta Naughty or Nice, a metallic purple, and highlighted with Sally Hansen Salon Plumitarius, a lighter, dustier purple.
I wash my brushes pretty often now - most often after one use - and I needed something that would help me get them quickly and thoroughly clean. The Scrub Shell is also small and portable, and really travel-friendly.  If you're interested in more information or to purchase, you can find the Scrub Shell on Amazon, where it currently retails for $10.95.

How do you clean your brushes?
