Yesterday's post was about how I get started cleansing with Derma E.  Today, I'm going to get down and really deep clean and resurface my skin with Derma E.

Like I mentioned yesterday, I feel pretty good about using these products right from the get-go.  The company seems to take a holistic look at skin health, from recommending plenty of water and sleep - to looking at sustainable production, and natural, vegan ingredients that are cruelty-free.

Once my skin is properly cleansed, I might look at doing one of these treatments - Purifying 3-in-1 Charcoal Mask, Microdermabrasion Scrub, or the Overnight Peel.  I wouldn't recommend doing all of them at once!  Each one works differently to remove dead skin and debris, so alternating use is a good idea.  Personally, I prefer to use one every 3 days or so, but your mileage may vary.

The Microdermabrasion Scrub is a finely gritty scrub that smells like lemon cookies.  I think it smells divine!

It's a physical exfoliant that uses very fine grains of salt to gently remove the top layer of dead skin.  This is definitely a scrub you can feel, but at the same time, it's a fine grit.  It doesn't hurt or irritate my face, and I actually enjoy the feeling of making circular motions on my face with my fingers in the scrub.  It's relaxing and I can feel the scrub doing its thing.

My face always feels fresh and clean after this treatment, but never too dry or irritated.

The Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask also exfoliates with apricot seed powder, but it also uses charcoal to draw toxins and debris out of the pores.  Charcoal is pretty amazing stuff - it can absorb many times its weight, and it's attracted to all the things we want to remove from our bodies.

This mask works really quickly, for those that don't want to spend 20 minutes waiting on a mask.  In less than 10, this mask is dried out and ready to be removed.  I find that the removal is kind of messy, with chunks of mud going everywhere, so I'd recommend removing it in the shower.  It could just be me, though.  I'm pretty messy in general.

For those who want a chemical, rather than a physical, exfoliation, there is the Overnight Peel.  AHAs in Glycolic and fruit acids destroy the bonds of the top layer of skin to the other layers.  When it's sloughed off, it reveals the new skin underneath. 

Though this looks like a regular lotion, do not be deceived.  It goes on like a lotion, but that's where the similarities end.  This is 5% blend of acids, and if you're not used to them, they can sting a bit.  I noticed it right away, but it subsided quickly.  It doesn't really feel like you're wearing anything after a bit - the peel absorbs into the skin.  I went to bed and didn't get anything on my sheets or pillow.  In the morning, when I washed my face, it felt really tight and a little dry.  In the middle of the day, I felt my face getting dry again, so I moisturized, which is really unusual for me.  This is a treatment I would do again when I didn't have anywhere to be the next day.  I don't want to wear makeup over it until my face is used to the strength of the peel.

Whether you like grit or acid to exfoliate, there's something in this line for everyone.  My personal favorite is the Microdermabrasion Scrub - it's easy to use, no waiting for it to dry, and it rinses off so easily.  It also smells amazing.
