Happy 'Back to the Future' day! I don't have any BTTF polishes, but I'm going to celebrate in today's post by diving into the vault for some older pictures that meet this month's "Funky French" challenge.  The polish I used as the base for this look was inspired by a movie made in the 70's, but it's coming back in a few months in a new way!

I have some really pretty polishes and nail art to show you today.  I'm so excited, I had to bump this up in my scheduled posts!

This beauty is Jane's Lemming.  The base is ...grey? taupe?  Who cares - look at that incredible blue shimmer.  I have a LOT of polishes, and none like this.

I decided to play off the blue, and take a tip from this pix from the Manicurator, and use striping tape and a texture to amp up the mani.  This is OPI Alcatraz Rocks! from the San Francisco collex.

Math sucks! Yes, in my opinion it does, but this polish doesn't.  This berry jelly has lots of blue flecks just swimming in it.

This nail art is a bit outside the box for me, but I just had fun.  I liked how the glitter in NerdLacquer All Of Time And Space went with the berry color in Math Sucks! so I did an accent nail... and then another.. and then tips... and then added a blue striper.  Play with your polish!

If you follow Ruby White Tips' Facebook, you may have seen that this is one of her newest releases, Me O My O.  I received it as a prize *before* it was released! Woot!  She liked my swatch, so now it's on her Etsy page for this polish.  This is my first time that this has happened to me, and I couldn't be more flattered.

I saw Mr. Kitty in a blog sale, and snatched it up.  The shimmer!  Oh, the shimmer.  I couldn't resist.  It's amazing.  Also, this polish is one of the Batworld.Org polishes, and when you buy it from RWT, 50% of the proceeds goes towards helping this bat sanctuary.  Mr. Kitty (and Miss Kitty, his namesake) have a really cool story!  A rescued cat that rescues bats?

Bats eat bugs, especially mosquitoes.  Mosquitoes hurt me and spread disease.  MOAR Bats, please!

I thought that Mr. Kitty and O Me O My O would look great together.  The color separating them in this cloud mani is Illamasqua DWS, a grey creme.

I'ma NERD

I don't know if some of the NerdLacquer fervor has died down now with this last big restock, or if it just fueled the fire.  I haven't seen as many going for $50+ like before.

I managed to score one of my biggest lemmings, from the Monty Python collex:  It's Just A Flesh Wound.

It would be opaque on its own, but I did layer it over a coat of black.  Can't remember which one now, but likely OPI Black Onyx.  I love the black and silver and the occasional copper fleck, but especially the glowing red glitters.

This is two lemmings in one!  It's a two-fer!  What a bargain.

I could NOT find Sinful Colors Pistache anywhere.  I love a nice pistachio creme.  Luckily, a polish buddy had one and decided it should be mine.  Yay!

I thought it would make a great base for one of those upside-down glitter gradients with the beautiful, but awkwardly named TDBSLWCHSHITD.  It's a Lord of the Rings thang, and stands for 'The Dwarf breathes so loudly, we could have shot him in the dark,'

A little factoid that surprised me is that the actor that plays the dwarf is actually really tall, like over 6 feet tall.  His body double is a dwarf, though.

I think I would have liked this better as a full-nail mani, rather than trying to blend it with Pistache.  I feel shorted on the glitter goodness.

Purple Layers

This mani I want to show you today is one that just evolved from looking at a color and wondering what it would look like with just a little..more.  Most times, I wish I knew how to edit myself!  I this this one is pretty good.

I started with Milani Violet Dash.  These high-speed drying lacquers are nice, especially for this clumsy gal, who is knocking into things within moments of finishing a mani.  The faster a polish dries, though, the faster you have to work, or you get streaks and patches like I did.

I thought that Darling Diva Persephone would need undies, but you can't even tell that the violet is under there.  It probably did save me from doing another layer, though - and I wouldn't want to waste a drop! 

I love the shift and blue shimmer! 

It's like magic when a polish looks purple, but then, no, it's actually a frosty blue.  How do they *do* that?

I couldn't resist ONE more layer.  The blue and the purple just seemed to call out for a glitter accent of Nerd Lacquer I Think You Call Me.. Sexy.

I think it is pretty sexy, myself.
