Thanksgivinukkah #FallingForNailArt

Hello, Fireflies!

Today is the last challenge for Falling For Nail Art! Whew, I made it!

And, what a unique day to be ending on.  I don't remember Hanukkah and Thanksgiving falling on the same day!  I'm not Jewish, but, here's a shout-out to those of you celebrating.  Mazel Tov!

So.  How to commemorate this with a mani?  I did something simple, and incorporated the two colors I associate most with these two holidays - brown and blue.

I started off with a brown holo - Cameo Colors Lacquer Cocoa Rainbow. It's so pretty! It has just a smidge of that reddish quality that I love in a brown.

It reminds me of Mexican Hot Chocolate, with that hint of spice.

I added a diagonal French tip with Sation Let's Mingle and Jingle, a beautiful blue with holo microglitters.

I also added some iridescent glitter in bluish-green along the dividing line between the brown holo and the blue glitter.  Sparkly!

If you hung with me throughout this whole Falling For Nail Art challenge, I thank you!  It was a lot of fun, and many times made me think outside the box for inspiration.  Thanks again to Ashley of Plump and Polished for allowing me to be a part of the fun.

Enjoy whatever holiday (or both!) that you are celebrating today!

Have a Crows Toes Christmas!

I am fairly new to the Miss Pro Sation line of polish.  I reviewed a cobalt metallic blue polish sometime back that I found to be thick, and this one, Morning Haze, was the opposite.  I found it to be really sheer!  I didn't expect that.  Definitely a layering polish.

Only instead of layering it on top, I put it underneath!

There are a slew of Indie 'Christmas' polishes out right now, and most collections have a red/green glitter with gold or silver.  I decided I didn't need all of them, but thought that this one was one of the prettier of the bunch.  Didn't hurt that it's chock full of holographic glitter, which are my favorite.  This is Crows Toes Making Christmas:

As it turns out, it was opaque in 2-3 coats, so I didn't really need much of a base color anyway. I think it would look nice over different colors, though, especially if you have really long nails and don't want to put so much glitter on to cover any VNL.

I used Deborah Lippmann Honey Bee as a base color for the next Crows Toes glitter.  Deborah makes smooth, lovely formula polishes, and this is no exception.  It's maybe not the best color for my skin tone, but it's a very pretty polish.

Christmas Crow was pretty opaque in 2 coats as well, but if you look closely, you can see that some of the glitters reflect the same color as the DL Honey Bee.  Such an unexpected holiday polish color, but I love it.

Dark, brooding, but with such sparkle, perfect for a celebration.

Are you wearing more traditional colors like Making Christmas this holiday season?  Or is Christmas Crow more your style?

Electric Blue Bugaloo

At the Central FL Beauty Bloggers' meeting, we were given a polish from the newly rebranded Miss Professional Sation polish line.  I was so excited to get Electric Blue - I love blue polishes!

I had some trouble with this polish, though.  It would.not.dry.  I painted my nails...then I bumped it.  I'd fix it.  I'd bump it again.  I took it all off and redid it.  Still wouldn't dry. I knew I was going to use glitter, so I didn't want to put topcoat on.. maybe I should have.  But even later, after I put on the glitter... hours later.. it just squished off my nails.

Sure is pretty, though.

I dabbed on some Wet n Wild Party of Five glitter.  Made me think of a bunch of Mylar birthday balloons!  Very festive.

No pix of the right hand... I was too frustrated!  I will try again, though - I really love this color, and I'm willing to believe that maybe I was just having an off-polish day, especially after having a good experience with the red glitter polish from Sation.

Have you tried any of the new Sation polishes?  Any that just wouldn't dry?

The Wet n Wild and Sation polishes were provided to me for review.  Nonetheless, the opinions presented are my own, and as unbiased as possible.

Nude-y Ruby Shoes

I don't have much occasion to need conservative nail polish, but I still love to rock a nude polish now and again.  There's something classy about a nude polish with a touch of shine.  So I decided to mix classy and snazzy in one mani.

This is two coats of Milani Natural Touch.  It's a nude that leans towards pink, which works well with my skin tone.  Even my hubby, who doesn't like nudes on me, liked this one.  The formula was good, if a little thick.  It will likely need thinner next time I wear it.  This is two coats, no topcoat.

Then I applied tape to all my nails, and painted them, one or two at a time, with Miss Professional Nail Sation in Gumdrop Glitter Red.  It is a gorgeous red glitter in a red base that was opaque in one thick coat.

One thing I found really interesting about this polish was how easy it went on.  I couldn't even feel the polish brush - it just glided on.  And, even with glitter, it made a nice, neat line with the tape.  Sation has recently undergone a rebranding - new bottles, new brush, new everything.  Even if you've tried Sation in the past, it's worth a gander at the new Sation.

Even though the line was straight, I decided to add more contrast by painting on a black line with a Nail Art striper.  Look at that sparkle.  All done, with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Right hand:

Not quite as conservative now... but still really pretty, and I think it's still classy.
