Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse Makeup and Giveaway!

Something happened to me that rarely happens to me.  A while back I got an e-mail from Borghese.  In this e-mail, they said, they'd like to send me a gift, a token.  I'd tried a few of their nail polishes, and liked them, so I thought that was pretty cool.

I was expecting maybe a nail polish or two.  I was not expecting this.  And best of all, they sent me two sets, so I'm sharing one with you.  New makeup is a great way to start the New Year!

First, let's check out this large palette, the Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse Shadow and Light Luminous Eye Palette. 

The packaging is gorgeous, like a faux leather, with a magnetized closure.  It includes a mirror and a dual-ended brush.  The pan is cardboard, but nice and sturdy.  My fave part is that they printed the shadow names right on the palette, which I like. Unlike any other neutral palette I've seen, this one has a wide range of finishes - everything from a satin-matte to shimmer to metallic to glitter.  This palette retails for $55.

It's obvious that I haven't done a lot of shadow swatching, because I forgot to use primer.  Even without a primer, you can see how pigmented they are, and the metallics are gorgeous. The mattes definitely performed better over a primer, like most mattes do.  Also, for this first set, I could NOT get a good picture of the first shadow.  It's just too much like my own skin tone.

When I wore these with a primer, holy cow, I couldn't believe how nice they were.  I have a look I created that will show you.

The first four are very light.  two shimmery metallics, two mattes (one not photographed).

Borghese describes these:
Bask - a light, warm-toned creamy-beige with a satin-matte finish. 
Afterglow - a warm-toned medium-beige with a highly metallized finish.
Pulse - a warm-toned, soft-peach, highly metallized.
Veil - a cool neutral soft-brown with a satin-matte finish.

Getting darker, and more warm-toned.

Borghese describes these:
Muse - a burnished gold with brown undertones, highly metallized.
Ascend - a light, soft-tan with yellow undertones, satin-matte finish.
Wane - a rich medium brown with warm undertones, satin-matte finish.
Impact - a medium rose-copper, highly metallized.

The darker ones are almost always my faves.

Borghese describes these:
Downfall - a dark brown with depth, matte finish.
Out There - a medium pewter, highly metalized.
Shroud - a deep charcoal-grey with blue undertones, highly metallized.
Immortal - a deep charcoal-black with subtle silver glitter

The smaller palettes are travel-friendly, and contain everything you need for either a smoky or neutral look.  Both of these retail for $29.

The smokier palette is called Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse 5 Shades of Sultry.

Borghese describes these:
Lit- a light white-silver metallic pearl.

Vapor- a medium grey, blue overtones, metallic pearl.
Smolder- a dark smoky charcoal, high frost finish.
Fume- true black, matte finish.
Scorch- medium, glitter-laden graphite-grey.

The Borghese Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse 5 Shades of Torrid is a beautiful neutral palette. I love that it has all different finishes in it, from matte to metallic.

Borghese describes these:
Wisp - a light, matte-finish ivory.

Kindle- a soft champagne taupe, satin-pearl finish.
Stoke- a medium brown, warm undertones, matte-finish.
Sear- a deep brown, matte-finish.
Torch- a medium champagne, pink overtones, highly metallized.

To go with these great neutrals, Borghese also sent these gorgeous, glittery lipglosses.

There are eight glosses in the Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss line, each one retailing for $21.50. 

I love the packaging on these.  Even the box has a nice swatch of the color. The bottles themselves are nice and sturdy, the caps a lovely gold-black gradient. I love how the glosses look like a solar system in a bottle.

These lipglosses are thick, a little sticky, and very glittery, with some glitter staying behind even after the gloss is gone. As I recently learned from MUA James Vincent, lipgloss is meant to be worn only in the center of the lips, to highlight.  These would be excellent at that, given their luminosity, and their sheerness would lend itself well to layering.

I created this look using the Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse Shadow and Light Luminous Eye Palette, and the Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss in Brightside, as well as the Temptu concealer wheel, Cover FX powder, Serenity + Scott Powder Foundation, Too Faced Bulletproof Brows in Brunette, It Cosmetics eye liner in Silk Taupe, and Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Mascara.

I really love a warm, golden eye. Even though my skin has pink undertones, I just think the warm metallics bring out my brown eyes. 

While you could certainly use these for a bolder, dramatic look, there's something nice about a soft, golden, everyday neutral look.
