It's "Strange Stuff Saturday" again, where the topic is beauty-adjacent. Well, I think drinking water is definitely a part of being healthy and beautiful, and I'm always trying to drink more, though the siren song of booze and soft drinks is often sweeter than the call of the tap. When Influenster asked me if I was interested in trying out a PUR water filter, I was pretty stoked, because tastier water means I'll drink more water, right?
I used to have a faucet-mount filter from *ahem* another filter company, but it didn't work out, and we stopped using it. Right out of the package, though, I was intrigued by this new filter with Maxion technology. It's a mixture of carbon - created by heat-treating coconut shells - and ions that treat the water, removing 99% of lead and 96% of mercury, for up to 100 gallons per filter!
I asked Mr. Lit From Within to install the faucet filter, though I did put the filter in the housing. It was pretty easy, just twist open and plop the filter in. Mr. LFW said that the rest of the installation was just as easy. PUR includes 4 different adapters for different faucets, but we didn't need them - it just popped right on, just like the 1-click installation promised.
There's a light that tells you when to change the filter, and a little black switch to go from regular faucet water to filtered water. It takes no time at all for the water to come out the filtered side, but it does take a few seconds for it to stop after you turn it off.
My little blue cupid/bulldog candy dish looks very excited about all of this, doesn't he?
I asked Mr. LFW to do a blind taste-test with me. I filled two juice glasses - one from the regular tap, and one filtered with the PUR filter. He tried both. He said he couldn't taste the difference. But when I asked him which one he would prefer to drink, he chose the filtered glass! When he conducted the test on me, I could taste the difference right away - and we have pretty good water here. The filtered water was smoother, and it definitely tastes better.
For my PUR water filter-inspired mani, I did a multi-Ruffian nail art, alternating between Color Club Snakeskin and Milani Beach Front. Doesn't Snakeskin look just like the chrome?
What things do you do to get more water into your day? Do you use a pitcher or faucet filter?
For more information, you can find PUR on their website, or purchase from Target, Walmart, or Amazon.
