Dupe That Serum! #UltimateSerum

Press Sample.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

When I started getting into nail polish, I kept hearing this word, "dupe."  It's short for "duplicate" and means a very similar, if not indistinguishable replica of an original product.  There are many dupes for polishes and makeup, but this is the first time I've heard of a skincare serum dupe!

As a general rule, I'm more interested in the packaging of the actual product than how it's sent, but I do enjoy when companies like RevivSerums make me feel like they're proud of their product, and are happy to share it with me.

RevivSerums was started in response to the high prices and exclusive nature of serums promoted and sold in doctors' offices.  They noticed that a lot of the ingredients weren't as expensive or exclusive as these pricey serums would insinuate.  In some cases, the technology behind the serums was not the latest-and-greatest, either.

RevivSerums Ultimate Serum is not really a dupe of TNS Essential Serum, although it contains 23 of the same ingredients - as shown in their head-to-head comparison between the products.  They've also included biotechnology created from the stem cells of a rare apple, and hexapeptides.
The idea behind the plant stem cells that they actually help our own stem cells protect our skin cells, and all these peptides are amino acid chains that help skin heal and regenerate.

Ultimate Serum is really 11 different products in one:

• A brightening product
• An antioxidant serum
• A firming and tightening product
• An anti-inflammatory
• A peptide serum
• A green tea complex product
• A vitamin C serum
• A sebum controller
• A collagen stimulator serum
• A growth factor serum
• A moisturizer and light emollient
I've been using this at night, and I sometimes skip my moisturizer because this serum contains Shea Butter and Olive Oil.  It really is a nice, light, moisturizer.  I really enjoy that it contains hyaluronic acid, and aloe - two ingredients I've been using for a while that I know my skin likes, and help keep it looking hydrated.  Green Tea extract is not only full of antioxidants, but also Vitamin C - and it is known to soothe the skin.  I'm glad this also works to reduce inflammation and sebum, because with my oily skin, I can really use an added layer of protection from irritating blemishes!
The serum itself comes in a dark purple plastic pump bottle, which helps protect it from light and air.  The serum has a very faint scent... I once read someone's review of a serum as smelling like 'chicken stock' and I thought that was odd, but I kinda think this serum smells like herbed chicken stock.  It's not bad, or weird, or even long-lasting.  I had to really sit there and try to smell it to even identify any kind of scent.

You can see that it's a light milky yellow color, fairly thin and lightweight.  It absorbs quickly with no greasy feeling.
If you're already using a hyaluronic acid serum, and Vitamin C, this serum could be the only one you need - plus it has all the plant cell technology that a lot of serums are missing.  The only ingredient that I know my skin loves that I don't see listed in the ingredients is Niacinamide.  There are a lot of other ingredients that reduce wrinkles and plump the skin and brighten it, so I don't know if it's a non-issue.  Your mileage, as always, may vary.

My nail art is inspired by the purple dotted packaging!  The base is Sally Hansen Salon Plumtarius, my new favorite purple, and is double stamped with MdU Lilac and Hit The Bottle Electric Indigo.
For more information, or to purchase, you can find RevivSerums on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and on their website, where this serum normally retails for $250, but is on sale for $129.

Have you ever used a dermatologist-created serum, or would you use one like this one that was patterned after it?
