It (Cosmetics) Girl With An Urban (Decay) Edge

Have you ever been convinced that you weren't going to purchase something, and then you ended up being seduced by it and having it win you over?  That's what happened with me and the Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay collex.  It's so neutral, yet edgy! I paired it with some It Cosmetics I love, and a fun nail art look today.

When the Gwen eyeshadow palette came out, I was kinda bummed.  All I saw were different shades of beige, and a few pops of color.  After seeing different swatches of it, though, I realized that the beiges were all different textures, and that I fell in love with those pops of color.  The maroon on the end of the first row, and the bright blue and gold in the last row are really, really great colors.

The lipstick collection, at first glance, is the same way - lots of shades of red, with one nude, and one standout fuchsia.  I had to have Fireball, and chose the dark red, Rock Steady, too.

Every review seemed to complain about that pink in the last row, how it had so much fallout, and was a disappointment... so of course I had to use it first.  I was hoping it would be a darker pink, but I didn't have any problems with it over the UD shadow primer.   I also used a few of the beiges, though I couldn't tell you which ones... and the maroon in the crease, with the gold as a highlight.

I'm absolutely in love with the new It Cosmetics serum/sponge foundation.  It applies like a dream, sets in seconds, and feels like I'm wearing nothing at all.  I had been applying it with my Cargo Magic Brush, but decided to take a chance on the sponge applicator that came with it.  It's not for me.  It feels like it just absorbs all the product, and I have to keep going back to the compact to get enough product for my face.  I used a little of my Cover FX Blemish Concealer under it, but I don't think you can tell I'm having any breakouts at all!

I love the color of Fireball, but I do have to say that this was the very first time I'd ever found myself with lipstick on my teeth.  It's so embarrassing! I didn't use a liner, and maybe I used too much, because later in the evening I reapplied, and didn't get any more on my teeth - though I was totally paranoid for the rest of the night!

Aside from the Cover FX Blemish Concealer, I kept all my makeup to either the Urban Decay family or It Cosmetics.   UD: eyeshadow primer, Perversion mascara, Gwen Stefani Beauty With An Edge eyeshadow palette, Fireball lipstick.  IC:  CC+ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation (Light), Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder, Brow Power (Universal Taupe), Bye Bye Undereye Waterproof (Neutral Medium), CC+ Vitality Brightening Creme Blush (Je Ne Sais Quoi), Vitality Matte Bronzer (Warmth), and Hello Light Creme Radiance.

I did a crazy mish-mosh nailart to go with my look.  It started off with a fuchsia base, then I did some double stamping in black and white, and then topped it off with some tan, brown, and white painting.

Up close, it is a lot of look for me, but from a normal viewing distance, it did mimic the pattern of my dress pretty well!

What I used:  Finger Paints Gorgeous Graffiti as the base, stamping with Finger Paints Black Expressionism and Paper Mache, accents of Finger Paints Sketchy Character and Glitter Gal Tan Line.
