The Elixir for Oily, Aging Skin #LaDeessaBeauty

Hello, Fireflies!

Over the past year, there's one skincare product that I've been able to get my husband to use consistently, and it's Retinol.  His oily face and bald pate have really improved in texture, tone, reduction of blemishes, and in the vitality of his skin.  He's really inspired me to up my skincare game and be more diligent in my application of Retinol, too.

I recently tried La Deessa's Luminous 2.5% Retinol Anti-Aging elixir, and I'm loving the results.  This serum is supposed to be good for all skin types, but if you're like me - with oily skin that also is aging faster all the time, a retinol serum is going to address the two biggest issues we have - pimples and wrinkles.

I cry foul every time I think about how I'm over 40 and still dealing with puberty-esque skin.  Retinol works to both clean and tighten the pores, and also go deep into the skin structure to stimulate collagen and elastin production for thicker, bouncier skin.
I admit to not always doing the best things for my body and skin, but I do feel better when I find a product that not only works, but is made with the eco-system in mind.  With lots of plant-based botanicals (72% organic) and a formula that is free from fillers, alcohol, parabens, and sulfates, is kosher, and cruelty-free, this is a product I can feel good about buying and putting on my body.
I'm a fan of the packaging, too, with the amber bottle protecting the serum from light, and the pump dispenser keeping air and contaminants out, too.  The serum itself is clear, with a nice consistency - not runny or thin, and not tacky or sticky.  It doesn't have much of a smell at all - if I try really hard, I can smell a light herbal sweetness.

I love purple and grey together - from the label to my nails! The base color is Barry M Nightshade, the white is a mish-mosh, and the grey is GlitterGal Chuck A Wobbly.
This serum is very gentle - I didn't experience any stinging, redness, or peeling while using it.  The Aloe Vera, Hyaluronic Acid, and Glycerin in the formula are good buffers for Retinol, so even though it contains the highest amount of Retinol allowed without a prescription, it still feels nice on my skin. When using a Retinol serum, it's recommended that you use it only at night, as it can make skin more sensitive to UV damage, and because I use multiple serums at night, I layer the Retinol on last, before my moisturizer.  (Make sure all other serums have dried, for maximum effectiveness.)

La Deessa offers a 365-day satisfaction guarantee, so you can really try this serum for awhile to see if you like it and get results!  For more information, or to purchase, you can find La Deessa on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, and on Amazon, where their Luminous serum currently retails for $18.88.

Have you tried a Retinol serum yet?
