Sniffy Saturday #brooklynbetter

Hello, Fireflies!

I don't know that aromatherapy can be the cure for all that ails me, but I sure do enjoy it.  A few drops of a perfectly scented oil in my diffuser can do wonders for my mood.  Essential oils mixed into massage carrier oils can ease my aches and pains, or transport me off to sleep.  I think I've found one of my new favorite oils for relieving stress and helping achieve a state of calm.

The only place I'd heard of Frankincense, really, was from the biblical story of it being one of the gifts the kings gave to baby Jesus.  Even if you're not religious, the idea of it being a gift a king would give to a Messiah gives it some gravitas.  So, I was not disappointed when I opened the bottle, and a rich, deep, heady aroma met my nose.
This oil lives up to the reputation - it's steam-distilled, therapeutic grade, 100% pure, and cruelty-free.  The amber bottle helps protect the oil from light, and the dropper keeps the clear oil away from contaminants.
A few drops in my diffuser doesn't richly perfume the air, but it does give a soothing background note.  I can tell there's something in the air, but it's not aggressive or dominating.  This would make a great base note in any oil blend used to relieve stress, whether used for massage, or a bath oil, or in any form of aromatherapy.  It also has antiseptic properties, and can be used on the skin as an astringent, or in household use as an antiseptic.  As with most essential oils, and especially one this pure, it's not recommended that you apply the essential oil straight onto the skin, but rather mix it with a carrier oil, such as coconut, argan, grapeseed, or jojoba.

The label of this oil inspired this blobbicure design.  The base is Wet 'n Wild Ninja Lovelace, and I used OPI Put A Coat On! to create the blobs.
If you'd like to try an essential oil fit for a king, you might like this Frankincense Oil from Brooklyn Botany.  They can be found on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or on Amazon, where this oil currently retails for $13.99.
