Makeup is More Than Just Paint and Product #TheMakeupShow
Hello, Fireflies!
It's getting on time for my favorite event of the year, The Makeup Show, Orlando! There are five shows a year, in great places like NYC, LA, Chicago, and Dallas, and some pop-up shops all over the country, but the one in Orlando is where I go to recharge my makeup-loving batteries.
The obvious reason to go is for the shopping. There are tons of vendors, and the shopping can be overwhelming. Not only is it time to restock on favorite products, they usually have the newest, latest and greatest products before they are available to the general public! And, there are professional discounts a'plenty.
But, honestly, the press samples and shopping aren't even the best part of the show. There is a palpable energy in the air at The Makeup Show Orlando. Everyone is so passionate about their art, and so helpful and inspiring. I remember the first time I went, a veritable makeup ingenue, just discovering that there was more to this beauty world than nail polish. So many of the booths were staffed by professional makeup artists, and sometimes even the owners of the brands themselves! Everyone was so helpful in answering all my n00bie questions.
I've even made some great friends and contacts with other enthusiasts, bloggers, and makeup artists. Not only are there booths with great products and information, there are so many demonstrations going on, and speakers. Some people share stories of coming up in the business and working with celebrities, some people share techniques, some talk about the business side of being an MUA. There is a wealth of knowledge to be had. Which is good, because though you can leave there richer for the experience, your wallet will definitely be poorer!
If you love the artistry of makeup, if you want to learn, make contacts, and be inspired, you need to check out The Makeup Show. I hope to be there again this year! It's taking place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Orlando, on March 18-19. For more information, and to purchase tickets, please check out their website.
Have you ever been to a tradeshow like this before?
