Long Live Seche and Live Love Polish!

Some product sent for review, some purchased by me.  All opinions are my own.
 Hello, Fireflies!

If you know polish, then you probably know Seche Vite.  It's one of my very favorite top coats because it's thick and glossy and it dries fast.  Did you also know that Seche makes regular polish?  I have some I'd like to show you!

Nail Files.. and a little Face Friday - Think Pink!

Hello, Fireflies!

Today is all about pink.  And it's not even Wednesday, I know!  I couldn't wait.  Look at this gorgeous, bright, summery pink - Seche Snapdragon.  Perfect for showing off the tan I don't have and never get.

On its own, Colors by Llarowe Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee is pretty opaque.  It has such a lovely pink glittery look, I thought it would go well with Snapdragon.

When you order nail art silver beaded chain, you have to cut it yourself.  I wish I could have filmed this, because it was a comedy of errors!

1) You can not affix it to your nail first and then cut it.  Or at least, I can't.

2) If you count how many beads you need to go across your nail, take into account that you're curving the bead strand.

3) These beads are freakin' tiny. Your old eyes will miscount.  Count twice, cut once.

4) Use tweezers.  Slippery Little Suckers.

I never had a QuinceaƱera, but if I did, I think I would have worn these nails.

I've been playing with makeup a little more lately, and thought I'd show you this pink eye (not pinkeye) look with Urban Decay Noise, Mushroom, and Rebel (24/7 sticks) and Mally eyeliner, and Rimmel Scandal Eyes mascara.

I've been inspired by some of the bloggers to use a brighter pop of color that I wouldn't ordinarily use! I like it.

I'm also wearing Cover FX BB Gel in P-Light/Medium over the Cover FX sunscreen primer, Urban Decay Jilted lip gloss, and - I think - Tarte Shimmering Poppy blush, with Hourglass Ambient Light Mood finishing powder.

Are you liking the chain nail look? or the pink makeup look? Would you rather a blog post focus on just one or the other?

Neapolitan Dipping Dotticure - #NailArtForNubs

Hello, Fireflies!

Today's look was inspired by jessuhhhkuh on IG.  I loved the pink base, and the way she did the triple dots, but I wanted to change up the color scheme a little.  I didn't realize I was going for a Neapolitan Ice Cream look, but that's what happened!  Who wants ice cream?

SephoraX Invincible is a pale, pale pink creme.  This was three coats - typical patchy pastel, but I think it leveled out okay in the end.  One of those classy neutrals that looks good with everything, but I am not really classy enough to pull off.

SephoraX Invincible

I used Laura Mercier Bare Mocha for the first layer of dots.  I love this chocolate/taupe kind of color.  So soft and pretty, and the formula was really nice, if a little thin.  I got this in a set from Hautelook, which has become my go-to site for Laura Mercier products.

Revlon Spirit was the white I grabbed for the next layer of dots... and promptly dinged my hand on something.  How I ever finish a nail art is beyond me, I can never keep from banging my hands on everything in sight.  Luckily, we have another layer of dots, and they will be strategically placed!

That bright pop of pink is Seche Snapdragon.  Love! What a bright, cheery pink.

I'm always amazed at the transformation with topcoat.  All the dots just melt into one layer.

Here's your personality test:  Which do you see? Dippin Dots Ice Cream, or deranged, crazy pink eyeballs?  Which will you see when you close your eyes tonight when you go to sleep?

If you missed it, my DermOrganic review went live earlier today! Check it out HERE.

Electric Midnight Blue

Hello, Fireflies!

This month's Nail Challenge Collaborative challenge is Our Favorite Color.  My fave color for as long as I can remember has been Midnight Blue.  It's kinda hard to capture in polish, as it can easily go too dark and end up black.  But I was able to pick 4 polishes that closely resembled what I love about the deep, dark, mysterious Midnight Blue.

I started with Seche Hypnotic, an electric/metallic midnight blue.

It has some brightness where the light hits, and some areas of shadows.  It's a one-coater, too.  I decided to add another of my faves, flakies, to it with Liquidus Lapis.

Can you see the flakies?  Yeah, me, neither.  Not really.  Whomp, whomp.

So disappointing when a flakie doesn't deliver!  I'll try it over something else before I declare it a total fail.  After all, there are so many in the bottle.  Surely they have to show up sometime on the nail, right?

There be Ghosts in the Other Realm #FallingForNailArt

Hello, Fireflies!

It's getting spooky all up in here.  Today's mani is pretty much a copy of a mani done by Nearly Natural Nails.  I was looking at Pinterest, and my hubby spotted this one and just loved it.  Well, how can I not at least try it then?

I started with a new-to-me polish with a well-known name.  This year, Seche - the maker of the beloved Seche Vite topcoat - came out with colors!  This deep, dark, metallic eggplant is called Aristocrat.  Which, of course, only makes me think of the joke.

For my ghosts, I had to use a white holo.  I thought Lacquer Lust Eternal Bliss would fit the bill.  At one/1.5 coats, it's still translucent in some parts over the dark purple, giving it an ethereal look.

For the ghostly facial features, I went with Cult Nails Fetish, that gorgeous waxy black.  I like the play in textures between the metallic purple, the translucent holo white, and the matte black. Makes me feel all artsy-fartsy.

Scary?  I might be.

I'm loving all the ghostly manis this season!  If you have one you'd like to share, please post on my wall! I'd love to see it.
