Recently, I was given the opportunity to go to a CVS Party where the theme was Nuance by Salma Hayek. We were given several products to try. Although a review was not required, I wanted to review some of the products for you.
Nuance My Favorite Nail Lacquer. So, tell us how you really feel, Salma? I liked this color ok, but it really isn't one I would have picked out, and it's not my fave. But, the formula is really nice, this shine is without topcoat, and it dries pretty quickly.
I thought I would try my hand at some nail art that represented the white flower silhouettes on the bottle (and is on a lot of her packaging, in one form or another.)
Nuance Vapor. Now, this one was *my* favorite. Gorgeous, shiny, dusty plum.
I put some of Mentality Gold Flakie and Red Flakie on top. I love flakies, and I liked this so much I wore it on both hands, to a party. Yeah, I'm cool like that.
More after the jump!
I also got the chance to review Salma's Lip Trio - one package, with liner, color, and gloss.
I love how they all fit together. The light one, Nude, is not my color. I looked like a zombie, so no pix. The purple one, Blackberry, is exactly my color. I don't even wear lip liner, but I liked this one.
Everything went on smoothly. The lipstick has great color payoff. The gloss is light, not sticky, and very little color but with shine. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking and I ended up cooking and drinking before I thought to take a pix. I'm kinda new at makeup reviews! whoops!
This is the Eyeshadow Duo of Sheer Plum and Putty. I really liked this. For one, it's a matte and a shimmer, which is a fun combination. The colors worked well on me, and I can see them working well on darker skin, too.
Putty, on top, would be a great neutral for someone with more pigmentation, but makes a nice matte tan on me. Sheer Plum has a nice shimmer. Both of these are just applied with my finger, no primer.
I don't have pictures, but I also got to try Salma's Facial Blotting papers, her Repair and Restore Shampoo and Conditioner, and her Age Therapy Serum. The blotting papers were nice. I've been using some from ELF, but Salma's were twice the size, which I really liked. They also didn't just break apart like some of the cheaper brands I've used. They soaked up the oil and sweat, left my makeup - did just what they were supposed to.
The shampoo and conditioner were nice. I have been using mostly drugstore shampoo and conditioner for a long time - usually Pantene or Dove or Garnier Fructis. These were comparable. The Age Therapy serum confused me. First, I thought it was for the face, but no, it's to make your HAIR look younger.
What does old hair look like? Other than being grey, which this product doesn't fix, I don't get it. I am 41, so I guess I have middle-aged hair. I wanted to see if it would give me 30-year old hair, but I didn't know what that looked like, either.
While I'm somewhat disappointed that, even after using alllll these products, I still looked NOTHING like Salma Hayek, I did like many of these products. The blotting papers and the nail polish are my top picks. The lip trio in Blackberry is gorgeous. Are you interested in trying Salma's new line?
Looks like some goodies you got to play with :)
ReplyDeleteFor a drugstore line, they were pretty nice, overall. I'm glad CVS threw a little party so I could see this line.
DeleteI love the the white flower nail art!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eugenia!
DeleteI like that purple polished too, very nice and your nail art soo cute!
ReplyDeleteBTW I hate the gloss form the trio, it was like the tip wouldn't pick up any product, I'm not sure if you experience the same.
Catherine
Thanks, Cat! The gloss wasn't my fave - I did get a bit of shine, but no color, and it didn't last very long. I would have been happy with just the Blackberry lipstick. :)
