Ever Wash Your Face With A Potato? You'll Want To With PureSol Konjac #KonjacSponge

Product provided for review.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

Have you heard about Konjac?  No, not the TV detective who always had a lollipop in his mouth.. (that's Kojak, and I'm *totally* dating myself.)  Konjac is a sponge made out of an Asian potato plant fiber, and it's a total game-changer.

When you first open the package, the PureSol konjac sponge is wrapped in protective plastic, and it's a hard, dense ball.  Unwrap it, and submerge it in clean water, and it's like those magic sponge capsules we had as kids - it inflates, and gets very soft and a bit squishy.  This particular sponge is denser than others I've tried, which I really like.  It feels very substantive in the hands, but still extremely gentle.  It's so gentle, they say you can use it on sensitive skin, and even babies, though I have neither.

What is it?  It's a 100% natural sponge made by steaming the edible fibres of the Konjac root plant.  Because of this, it's naturally acidic, which balances the pH of our skin.  It's also cruelty-free, vegan, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, and free from chemicals like parabens, sulphates and phthalates.  When you replace it (approximately every 2-3 months,) you can put it in a flower pot because it's eco-friendly and completely compostable.  Even the packaging is about 90% compostable.

Did you see Guardians of the Galaxy?  I had a thought of a happy little Groot growing with my composted Konjac sponge.

After the sponge is nice and soft, you can use it with or without cleanser.  The sponge fibers gently exfoliate and slough off dead skin cells, removing debris from the skin.  With a cleanser, the sponge helps to create a lovely bubbly foam.  Move the sponge in light circular motions all over the face to distribute the cleanser and exfoliate the face.  I like to rinse out the sponge and then use it to help rinse off the cleanser, too.

One really nice touch about the PureSol konjac sponge is that it comes with a little hook to hang it on.  It's important that the sponge gets a chance to dry out between uses.. I'm not particularly fond of the texture it takes on if it doesn't get aired out -  it is a plant-based sponge, after all.  I hang mine up in the bathroom by the sink after I'm done, and it does just fine.
PureSol konjac sponge-inpired nailart with LynBDesigns Ohh, It's A Tiara

I gave a similar sponge to my mom, and she forgot to soak it the first time she used it.. it didn't hurt her, but she did wonder why I liked it so much!  My sister-in-law fell in love with the Konjac sponge.  I did, too, and that's why I created this little PureSol konjac sponge-inspired nailart using LynBDesigns Ohh, It's a Tiara and framing the silver with a black nail striper.
