Yesterday, I showed you three looks with different Cover FX foundations. Today, I want to take a closer look at those looks and talk about the It Cosmetics makeup I used.
I purposely kept all three looks pretty neutral, but used different products to create slightly different looks.
This is pretty much my go-to eye look, with a light lid, brown crease, and darkened outer corner. This was my first time playing with the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration palette, and I was really surprised at how buttery and pigmented the colors were. Be careful of overblending - if I blended too much, I could actually blend the shadow away to nothing! I was also a little underwhelmed by the Radiance Ribbon, too. I packed on the light color, but it just melted away into nothingness.
My fave part of this look was discovering the Tightline mascara. I'm not wearing any eyeliner, just a little of the shadow smudged in the outer corner. The rest is all the Tightline mascara. The tiny brush really gets in there and covers everything! The bristles are too short to get on more than one good coat, though, so if you like more volume, use this as a primer for your fave volumizing mascara.
Makeup used: Cover FX BB Gel, Cover FX Blemish Treatment Concealer and Anti-Age Eye Primer, as well as IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration palette, Live Love Laugh Vitality Face Disc, the powder from the CC+ Radiance palette, Tightline mascara, Universal Brow pencil, Rose Flush Vitality lip stain, and NARS finishing powder.
For this second look, I tried to do a 'halo eye' that I saw on Slashed Beauty. Um, needs practice.
I didn't get the color as dark as it needed to be in the inner and outer corners, and the lid color should be lighter. I tried using the Transforming ribbon to get the lid lighter, but, just like with the first palette, whatever lightness I could get just melted away. I should have used a metallic or glitter shadow, maybe.
Still loving the Tightline mascara, which is now in my top 3, along with UD Perversion and L'Oreal Butterfly. Look, ma, no eyeliner!
I was pretty disappointed with the Rose Flush Vitality Lip Stain. I bought a set of 5 different stains, and most of them are pale, washed out colors like this that do nothing for me. Sometimes, it leaves a hot pink stain, weirdly enough. In person, it's a little brighter, but not much. I didn't think I looked like death as much as I do in this picture, though.
Makeup used: Cover FX CC Cream Time Release Tinted Treatment SPF 30, Cover FX Blemish Treatment Concealer and Anti-Age Eye Primer, as well as IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol 1 palette, Live Love Laugh Vitality Face Disc, the powder from the CC+ Radiance palette, Tightline mascara, Universal Brow pencil, and Rose Flush Vitality lip stain.
My favorite is the last look. Probably because I love the lipstick, finally! Though it looks vampy in the tube, Pretty Woman is a plummy-berry color on me. I added eyeliner to this look, and I love this brown/black color that is not too light, but not too stark.
I know it's LE, and not available right now, but if you like IT Cosmetics and you see this travel palette come out next holiday, I recommend it. It has so much win - both a powder and creme highlight, bronzer, powder, three blushes, 4 different concealers, and a bunch of eyeshadows. I used the powder highlight on my browbone, and love it. The only thing that's pretty worthless in it are the little pans of gloss. Only good for a couple of applications each, and though they look like they are different colors, there's virtually no pigment in them to speak of.
I know I'm no expert with my brows, but I do love the Universal brow pencil for brows in a flash. One side has a spoolie, and the other a universal taupe that is darker the harder you press. I like a natural brow, so I just use a little to fill in, and then blend it with the spoolie.
Makeup used: Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation, Cover FX Blemish Treatment Concealer and Anti-Age Eye Primer, as well as IT Cosmetics LE Naturally Pretty Essentials palette, Tightline mascara, Universal Brow pencil, No-Tug Gel Eyeliner in Black/Brown, and Pretty Woman Vitality lip stain.
So, here's the TL; DR:
1) Eyeshadows are great, but don't overblend, or they disappear
2) Tightline mascara is HG good, but use as a primer if you want a lot of volume
3) lippies are not very pigmented
4) brow pencil is great for quick, natural brows
As much as I like their makeup, their brushes are even better. Have you tried anything from IT Cosmetics?
