Predominantly Peach 'Parison

I have four peach-leaning Indie polishes for you today.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Dazzling Dusk.  Yes, it looks pink.  But when I put it with pink polishes, it looked peach.  So, apparently, it's somewhere in between the two.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Dazzling Dusk

Regardless, it's a beaut.  Great application, nice distribution of glitters, and it's preeeeety.  Whatever color it is.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Dazzling Dusk

Literary Lacquer Carrots, Carrots.  This is from the Green Gables collection, and it's what Gilbert said to Anne when he pulled on her ginger braids... and she broke a slate over his head.  And, so their courtship began.

Literary Lacquer Carrots, Carrots

This is peach, leaning orange, especially with the glitters.  But that base is especially gorgeous.  I love the crelly peachy-orange juiciness of it.  One of my faves!

Literary Lacquer Carrots, Carrots

Dandy Nails Sticky Sweet.  I love Dandy Nails polishes.  This one has a base that is unique - slightly metallic, kinda...wrinkly?  I don't know how to describe it, really.  This is a polish that would need topcoat for me, but I wanted you to see the texture of it.

Dandy Nails Sticky Sweet

I love the colors - orange, yellow and periwinkle glitters in a peach base.

Rainbow Polish Exotic Plumeria.  How can all these polishes be peachy glitters and be so very different?  I was blown away by this polish.  I love the metallic-looking glitters, the jelly squishy base, the tiny sparkly glitter.

Rainbow Polish Exotic Plumeria

This glitter adds red to the mix and it's great.  Fresh, juicy plums and peaches.

Here's a bottle shot of the four with the corresponding swatches:  Gloss 'n Sparkle Dazzling Dusk, Literary Lacquer Carrots, Carrots, Dandy Nails Sticky Sweet, and Rainbow Polish Exotic Plumeria.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Dazzling Dusk, Literary Lacquer Carrots, Carrots, Dandy Nails Sticky Sweet, and Rainbow Polish Exotic Plumeria.

And, all together.  One thing I love about Indies is how many variations there are.

Which is your fave?  more pink, more orange?  more texture or a jelly?  tiny glitters or bigger ones?

If you'd like more information about these Indies, you can find Gloss 'n Sparkle on Facebook. She has an Aussie-only Etsy shop, but her page lists some International retailers.  Literary Lacquer also has a Facebook page, and an Etsy shopDandy Nails is on Facebook and Etsy as well.  Rainbow Polish has a Facebook page here, and both an Etsy and Big Cartel shop.

It's a Dandy Spring!

The Spring collex for Dandy Nails has all my weaknesses - grey, milky bases, blue..  Let's see if you can resist better than I did!

Started Out With A Kiss.  Ever so sheer and demure. I really could have used undies with this polish.  I also had quite a bit of glitter stuck on the bottle, so maybe it was supposed to be more dense on the nail.   I decided to use it as one layer for a multi-glittered look.

I added Elevation Polish Daisen, and I like the combo.  Lookie at those circle glitters! Too cool.

Bound To Fall.  Oh, grey jelly with blue glitter makes me weak in the knees.  Especially flakies.

I thought this color would be a great compliment to a nail art by Robin Moses I'd seen with daisies.  Her tutorial is on You Tube, and she could explain the process better than I could.

I used Zoya Bevin and a little white for the petals, Zoya Cheryl and Illamasqua Gamma for the daisy centers.

Piece of Youth.  Have you seen the movie, "My Cousin Vinnie"?  If you have, then you know how I want to pronounce the name of this polish.  Youts.  haha!

Lovely turquoise with yellow glitters!  Like spring in a bottle.  Which made me think of another daisy nail art I wanted to try, on Pinterest from Ruth's Nail Art.  Sunshine-y daisies!

I used a white nail art striper for the petals, and Zoya Pippa for the centers.

Paranoia In Bloom.  This one was hard to photograph, but so beautiful!  A dark teal base with teal, blue, purple, and maybe holo microglitters that come together as a foil-looking polish.

I wanted to see what it would look like with more bling, so I used F4 Rockerfeller.  I like this glitter, but I'm not sure I did it any favors using it here.  I think it would look better with a glitter that was more gold, less white.

So, did you (bound to) Fall for Dandy Nails?  It started with (a kiss) WonderWall for me, and my love affair with Dandy Nails has been strong ever since.  I wouldn't want to make her Paranoid (in bloom) by stalking her, but this collection definitely has a Piece of my (Youth) heart.

Have a Dandy Holiday with some abstract nail art!

It's no secret that I love Dandy Nails!  With all the Indies I own, I still find things about her polishes to be excited about.  Her new holiday collection was so pretty, I had to get almost all of it.

I think Chilled Down is my fave.  I love the twist to use a nude milky base instead of the traditional white.  After all the crazy, bold holiday swatches, this was the perfect holiday palette cleanser.  Great application, no undies needed.  It makes me think of a winter day blanketed in new snow.

Bory-Alice is a blue/purple duochrome.  It's in the newer style of pigments where they almost look chunky, and you can see the black base color of the polish, but the texture is smooth, and removal isn't difficult like regular glitter.

Even though I've shown you Moonglow before, I couldn't resist throwing it in as an accent nail here.  I love me some holos.  This one is subtle, but it's so pretty.  I love the grey.

Cashmere Night is the first matte/suede finish I've seen in an Indie.  To my knowledge, the glitter finish makes it more suede than just a plain matte.  You can see the blue specks coming through.

I really like it with topcoat, too!  All the different glitter colors just pop.

I saw this amazing abstract brushstroke technique on Gorgeois that I wanted to try, so I used Cashmere night as the base, and a ton of polishes (including Bory-Alice) to make the look:

Colors used:  Pomegranate Lacquers Enchanted Lagoon (minty green), Peripera P027 (iridescent green/gold/blue), Revlon Colorstay Stormy Night (taupe), Essence I love Berlin Green Grass (emerald green), Jade Diamond Velvet (shimmer purple), and Dandy Nails Bory-Alice.  Base color:  Dandy Nails Cashmere Night.

What do you think of Dandy Nails and this abstract look?  It was so easy, but looks so complicated.  If you try it, please post a pix on my Facebook page!

Stamping Sunday - over blue...grey...blue...

I like to layer my colors, who doesn't?  But I didn't mean to layer so many!  I started off with a franken I bought of China Glaze 2night.

I looked at swatches online, and I know that 2night is a denim blue holo.  This is not.  I think I like this more, though!  I wish it were a little more holo (though it was in RL, I wasn't able to capture it in the pix inside) but I really love this cornflower blue.

But I wanted a little more holo, and my new Dandy Nails Moonglow was beckoning me.  Dandy Nails is quickly becoming one of my fave Indies.  Her polishes just don't disappoint.  They are great.  I love her micro-glitters, too.  Moonglow is grey/blue/purple with a subtle linear holo.  Gorgeous.

But then I checked the Adventures in Stamping page, and found that we were supposed to stamp over blue.  I *just* covered the blue! So, I had to cover Moonglow, and I chose Color Club First Looks, a deep, shiny blackened teal.

Sorry about the lobster hands, I was trying to capture how dark this polish is, but my camera kept picking up all the light.  This polish isn't black - you can definitely tell it's a teal, but it's a little darker than I was able to photograph.

So at this point, I'm wearing three different color polishes in layers, but I still have to stamp!  I chose Revlon Silver Screen and Mash - 27 for my stamping.

My thumb has the closest representation of the whole stamp.  On all my other fingers, I took different sections of the same stamp and put it at different orientations.  I am in love with this look.  My nails are chipping and peeling from all the different layers of polish, but I still haven't taken it off!

Are you stamping on Sunday?

Glowing Manis

The polishes I want to show you today have a beautiful quality that makes them look like they are glowing.  I loved each and every one of these!

I first started with OPI Not Like The Movies.  This polish hasn't gotten as much love as I would have thought, but maybe because there are quite a few purple/green duochromes out there now.  This one does have a little bit of holo microglitter that gives it a little extra.

On top of NLTM, I layered Darling Diva Polish Space Beetle.  This polish is both a duochrome and a holo.

It was hard for me to capture both in one photo.  The holo is more scattered than linear, but there is some linear in there.

I loved this so much, I wore it on both hands. :)  So unique!

The next mani started with Essence Grey-t to be here, a pale grey with a pink shimmer. It's hard to capture on camera, but the shimmer is there.  I like these Essence Color-n-go polishes.  The price did go up to $2 with these new bottles, unfortunately, but the formulas are great, and I love the wide brushes.

Over the Essence, I used Dandy Nails Bathed In Light.

I feel like there should be a moment of silence for this gorgeous, angelic polish.

I wish I could bathe in this polish!  I love the glow, the scattered holo, the color, the formula, everything.  Too much?  maybe....

Halloween?

When I started playing with these polishes, I wasn't thinking about Halloween, but there's something about green and purple that takes me there this time of year!

The base for all these glitters is China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard.  It's almost neon, but it's not - it's just really bright.  The second pix is shaded on purpose to give a more accurate color of the green.  It's not as yellow as it looks in the first pix.

As a surprise gift when I ordered some polishes from Nail Potions by Kunimitsu, I got a little mini of her Halloween polish, One Scary Outfit.  I figured this one would read Halloween, and it does!  I'm loving the focus on the black glitter with the hint of purple.

Swatching that combo made me wonder if I had any other purple glitters that would read Halloween if I put them over the same bright green.  First, I tried Candeo Mallard.  Candeo colors are very nice glitters - great formula, complex mixes of glitters.  I liked this combo, but I'm looking forward to trying it out over something less Halloween-ie.

Next, I tried Wet 'n Wild Colorcon in The Crown Is Mine.  Hmm.  Not Halloween-ie at all.  The lavender dominates, and the shimmer lightens the green too much.  I wasn't feeling this combo at all.  Pass.

Wild and Crazy in Paris is a color I picked up at a beauty supply store that specialized in ethnic products.  I'd never heard of this brand, but I loved this glitter!  No purple, but the green and black is very festive.

Dandy Nails is becoming one of my fave Indies.  I have reviewed Wonderwall before, and I'm going to review Bathed in Light for you, too, which I fell in love with.  Like Disco Lemonade is another fun glitter with different greens and black and some holo glitters that flash purple.  Over the green, very Halloween, but I look forward to wearing this year-round.

All together.  They all have similar colored glitters in them, but they couldn't be more different on the nail!  Thumb - Candeo Mallard.  From index to pinky - Colorcon The Crown is Mine, Wild and Crazy Paris, Kunimitsu One Scary Outfit, and Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade.

Will you 'make' a Halloween polish this season, or will you buy ones that are someone else's vision of the season?
