Stamping Sunday - Shadow Dancing

This would be Peter Pan's favorite challenge!  Get it?  Because he lost his shadow?  Am I dating myself?  Hello, is this thing on? *tap, tap*

Fine, here's some pretty polish:  Above the Curve Genevieve.

For a pastel, the formula wasn't actually too bad.  I did have a little trouble at first with pooling in the cuticles, but that is likely user error.  What did bum me out a little, though was the gold shimmer... or lack thereof.

See that delicate gold shimmer in the bottle?  Yep.  See it on my nails?  Not so much.  I love pink and gold together, which is what inspired the colors for my stamp.

I wanted something delicate and pretty, so I went with the floral/filigree stamp from Mash-43.  Too bad I couldn't replicate the delicate prettiness on my nails!

I thought that the black should go in the back because, well, shadows are black, right?  I think it would have looked better the other way around.  I tried to line up the stamps a little, but I still need practice.

I did use this technique I saw from another blogger where she drew a crosshatch, basically, on the sides of her stamp, so she could line up the stamp and the nail with the crosshatch.  I'm getting better, but it takes some practice to line it up.

I used two of my fave stamping polishes for this look:  Maybelline Bold Gold and Finger Paints Black Expressionism.  They are very awesome at stamping.  What are your fave polishes for stamping?

If you'd like more information about Above the Curve, you can find them on Facebook, and their BigCartel store

  1. Great colors you chose, very pretty together. I've never tried stamping before so I don't have favorite polishes... yet.

    1. Stamping can be quite an addiction.. there are always new stamping plates coming out, and the cutest designs! There are some people who are sooo good at it, it's amazing what they can do. If you try it, I hope you'll post on my Facebook page!

  2. Very pretty. I think you did a great job. I've been practicing and I find stamping very difficult. But this morning I finally found a foil adhesive that works perfectly.....eyelash glue! It's tacky and the foil lifted completely. I've tried about 20 other glues, none worked. I didn't want to buy that tiny bottle for $8. Try it!

    1. (I deleted your duplicate comment only) I've never tried eyelash glue for foils! I know I have some around here because I love false eyelashes.. but I've only worn them for Halloween! I've used Scrap Perfect The Best Glue Ever for foils and nail art, based on Robin Moses' recommendation. Have you tried it?
