Retinol - Aging, Oily Skin's Best Friend #JoyalBeauty

Hello, Fireflies!

Long-time readers will know that I do love checking out serums.  I love trying new formulations, small brands - big brands - lots of different serums.  There are a few ingredients that I just keep coming back to, because I know that my skin looks and feels better when I use them - and Retinol is definitely one of the stars of my skincare routine!

Retinol is a heavyweight champ of my anti-aging, anti-blemish skincare arsenal.  As someone with aging, yet oily, skin, I have a lot of clogged pores, big pores, and discoloration from angry blemishes.  Retinol gets down into the skin and helps to loosen debris, increase collagen, and repair skin.
Joyal Beauty Retinol Correcting Serum has 1% Retinol, which may not seem like a lot, but it works just as well as higher dosages - it just takes a little longer.  Plus, it's more gentle, so there's less of a chance of getting the unpleasant side-effects of Retinol, like redness, flaking, peeling, and general skin irritation.  In addition to the Retinol, there are lots of hydrating and soothing ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe, Green Tea, and Jojoba and Wheat Germ oils.  With all these natural ingredients, 72% of which are organic, all of which are vegan and kosher, and a paraben-, sulfate- GMO- and cruelty-free formulation, I can feel good about putting it on my face.  And, because Joyal Beauty is a Green company, their USA-made serum is made with 100% wind-powered production, using sustainbly sourced, biodegradable/recylable packaging - so I can feel good about putting it in my shopping cart.
The serum itself is a clear gel, housed in an amber bottle with a pump - my favorite kind of packaging to preserve all the goodness inside against light and air.  The herbal infusion gives the serum a very subtle fragrance that most natural serums have - there are no added fragrances in the serum, so it doesn't have a strong smell.

Pink flowers on green, inspired by the Joyal Beauty packaging.  The base is China Glaze All Spruced Up.  To make the flowers, I put down a white base, then used a variety of pinks and reds on top:  Bettina 47, Jenna Hipp Daft Pink, and Deborah Lippmann Baby Love.

I credit Retinol for helping to keep my pores cleaned out, and I know it helps my husband's skin.  It's one of the few serums I can get him to use consistently on his bald head.  Over time, it's really helped reduce oil production and reduce the visibility of pores and blackheads.  The texture of his pate is much improved, too - now his head looks less like leather, and is so much smoother and softer than it used to be.

For more information, or to purchase Joyal Beauty Retinol Correcting Serum, you can find them on their website, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or on Amazon, where this serum currently retails for $24.95.
