Hot and Burning Falloween

I have two undies from Hot Ticket and two glitters from LynnBDesigns to show you today.  They are all deliciously Fall-o-ween-ie!

First up, Root Beer Gloat by Hot Ticket (the Balm).  Oh, this polish was love at first sight!  Look at that inner glow, that caramel molten center... Hot Ticket polishes practically apply themselves, too - they just flow onto the nail.

I almost didn't want to cover it!  But I had just gotten two glitters from Lynn B Design's Halloween collection, and I thought that Wolf's Bane would compliment Root Beer Gloat perfectly.  The base colors are similar, I think, and the flash of blue is so much fun.  I love brown and blue together.

The next Hot Ticket polish, Candy Apple-a-Day, was a pleasant surprise on the nail!  I didn't expect it to be sooooo shimmery.  I've never seen MAC Bad Fairy, but I wonder if this would be a dupe or close cousin.  The orange/pink duochrome is so pretty.  Amazing formula, too.  This is two coats, and no topcoat.

It pains me to show you my flops, but I just have to be honest.  See that little flash of glowing red glitter in the bottle of Burning Leaves?  That's what made me think this glitter would look good with Candy Apple-A-Day.  The base color is all wrong, though, and I didn't like how it muted the wonderful fire of CAAD.

Burning Leaves is a gorgeous glitter, don't get me wrong.  I love Fall glitters like this with the oranges and browns and reds.  It just didn't pair well with the undies.

Weeds are just flowers that grow where they're not planted

One of the hot manis on Pinterest that I think is adorable is this dandelion mani from Mad Manis.  I thought it might be simple enough for a newbie like me, and still be cute.

After applying the ridge-filling base coat, I followed up with 2 coats of Essie's Fair Game in this cute little mini bottle.  I love this color - I love blues, and this is a grey, shimmery blue.  The closest thing I have to it is Zoya's Skylar, but Skylar is more blue and has micro-glitter in it.

After the blue dried, I applied a coat of Seche Vite.  When that was dry, I got out my dotting tool and made one black dot (Pure Ice Black Rage) on my thumb, middle finger and pinky, and then drew a line from that dot to the edge of my nail.

I used OPI's I Vant to Be A-Lone Star for the dandelion puffs.  It's like a silver with a blue tinge to it.  Or maybe it's just silver.  But it evokes blue to me.  It's very delicate, though, so I thought it worked nicely for this.

As an after thought, I dabbed on Hot Ticket's Dodged a Bullet over the petals, which I think added a little depth to the flower.  Or, I could be full of crap.  It's possible.

Ok, so you have to use your imagination a little to see that these are dandelions, but I like the effect, and it's a simple, subtle nail art.

Taco Night spicy red nails..

Hubby and I got invited to a very special dinner with our friend Jeanette to visit with her parents who were in from out of town. I love Jeanette and I love her parents, and Jeanette loves my manicures, so I had to find something special to wear.

Plus, it was TACO NIGHT.

So, I thought a spicy, shimmery red concoction might pay homage to the wonderful evening that somehow we got invited to.

I did my version of this mani from Sweet Sugar.  I wanted more nails painted, and well, my nails are half the size of hers, so I had to modify the art a little.  I used Hot Ticket's Better Off Red (2 coats) for the base, and Pure Ice Black Rage for the lines and China Glace Icicle for the silver hi-lights.

Practicing with my right hand... but this time, people saw it! :)

After dinner, we played around with the a-england polishes and she picked out Dragon for a mani.  I also stamped lizards on it, but for some reason, we forgot to take a picture of that.  I'm new at this, so sue me.  Maybe next taco night...
