Naturally Fly

Hello, Fireflies!

I like to fly, like all fireflies.  So, I was excited, naturally, to try the line of body butters from Naturally Fly.  I received samples of Honey Punch and Midnight Mango.

One thing I'm always happy to see on products - especially ones from small businesses - is some kind of safety seal.  Both butters came with a screw top and a disc sealed to the top.  They also came shipped in a cool pack, though it didn't help much with this Florida heat, I'm afraid.

Sealed for your protection!

Once opened, I wasn't sure what to expect.  The jars are light (4oz and 2oz, respectively) but they are filled with a thick butter.  If you're familiar with raw shea butter, it's almost like a whipped version.  Dense, yet airy at the same time.
The butters are easy to remove from the jar, unlike raw shea.  You can see here that they retain their granular appearance for a moment, and then start melting from the heat of the skin. They don't absorb quickly, but they're not greasy, either.  They are intensely moisturizing!

The Midnight Mango was my favorite scent between the two.  It's like a tropical vacation for the senses.  One of my first tests for a new moisturizer is to see if it passes the husband massage test.  This butter has a lot of grip, not slip - it stays where you put it.  Not good for massage, no matter how melty it is. Because of that grippy texture, it's really hard to spread around on the body, but it is really good at staying in one location that might need a lot of moisture, like elbows or knees.

The Honey Punch is made with honey, which because of its antibacterial properties, acts as a natural skin clarifier and acne-fighter.  At first, I tried using this on my face, because I have oily, acne-prone skin.  It did make my skin soft, and reduced the number of whiteheads I was seeing. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the honey scent on my face, so I didn't continue.  I did use it on parts of my torso that also get blemishes, and I liked it there better.  My blemishes greatly reduced, and I did like the more subtle honey scent used on my body before bedtime.

Currently, Naturally Fly carries four other versions of their body butters:

Groovy Butterfly, rich in Vitamins A and E, is said to promote skin cell renewal and helps diminish acne, redness, and scarring;

Super Natural, made with 100% unrefined Shea Butter and Grape Seed Oil, helps restore skin's elasticity;

Fly Daddy, a natural anti-aging body butter, helps defend against extra-dry flaky skin; and

Baby Butterfly, made with Avocado, helps minimize stretch marks, dark marks, and large pores.

Currently, 2 oz jars sell for $14.99, and 4 oz jars are $19.99, but you can take 10% off with the coupon code: FLY2014!

For more information about Naturally Fly, you can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.  Naturally Fly can be purchased directly from their website, or, if you are in the Atlanta area, they are now being carried by Urban Village in the Little 5 Points area.

Do you love a nice, thick, moisturizing body butter for those dry or problematic areas?  What would you use it for?
