More, MOAR Model City!

Today, I have the last two polishes in the Model City Spring collex.  They are all very subtle pastel holos, and I've decided to show them all as-is, with a matte topcoat, and stamped.  If you're just tuning in now, I started this collex on Stamping Sunday, and in yesterday's post.

Pretty In Pink.  I know I'm not the only one who has to sing the name of this polish.   I'm noticing a trend in all my pix that my ring finger seems to have more VNL than the other nails.  Not sure why that is, but I really love stating the obvious, so there you go.

Love this with a matte topcoat.  So far, they all look amazeballs with a matte topcoat.

Stamped, again with the DRK-C plate, and Finger Paints Black Expressionism. Groovy, baby.

You Blue Me Away.  If there was one polish in the collex that didn't work for me, well, it's the notorious pastel blue.  I could not get this to level out on me.

Note to self:  If a polish has mistakes, do not use matte topcoat - it only makes the mistakes more noticeable.

Another stamp with DRK-C, and Kleancolor Metallic Green.  I was trying to camouflage my bad paint job... but I only made it worse.  I should have waited longer for the polish to dry.. note the new ding.  Another note to self:  when it's bad, just start over.  Sometimes, you just can't hide it!
 

Overall, I really liked this collex, and if you bought the whole thing like I did, you got a free bottle of her holo topcoat, Seize the Rainbow.  So, if you wanted more holo, you could DIY.

More Model City!

If you missed Sunday's Stamping post, I started the Model City spring collex with a floral stamp.  Today, I'd like to show you two more polishes from the collex, in the same vein - regular, matte, and stamped. 

I Lilac What You Did There.  If there's one great thing about spring, it's pastel purple, in lots of different permutations.  Love it! You can just see the tiniest scattering of holo; it's really more for dimension.

This is gorgeous with a matte topcoat.  Makes it look icy!

Purple elephants just brings out my inner child!  These are stamped with DRK-C and Maybelline Amethyst Ablaze.  No topcoat, which is why some of the elephants are peeling a tad.

Anti-Establish Mint.  I would love to see a comparison between this and Enchanted's Britney Spearmint.  I suspect they are similar - and the pix of the Enchanted don't seem to be very holo, either, though I suspect it might be more holo than this one.

It takes on a chalky look with a matte topcoat.

Stamped, again with DRK-C, and this time with Sinful Colors Moss Have.  This Sinful is horribly frosty as a mani, but stamps beautifully.  I love how this pattern evokes jade jewelry.  You have no idea how hard it was for me to try and center this stamp on each of my nails.  I'm going to pause for a proud moment.

Would you rather have plain pastel cremes, or do you like the hint of holo?  I have the remaining two colors in the collex for you tomorrow.

Sunday Stamping - Spring Floral

With everyone calling out for the beheading of Punxatawney Phil for getting Spring all wrong this year, I can't say it's been bad here in Florida.  I actually really like this cooler weather, and it means I can open up the house and have a little fresh air before it's A/C all day, every day.

Model City Orange You Just Peachy.  A lovely peachy-canteloupe orange with a scattered holo.  Model City's Spring collex is 5 pastels with a very subtle scattered holo.  Some people have been upset with the collex because it's not more holo - but she clearly says they are a pastel collection with only a very little bit of holo.  And, that's what they are.  If you're looking for rainbows, look elsewhere.  This one actually has the most holo of the group.

I love this with a matte topcoat. 

I stamped with Sally Hansen Chrome Precious Petals and the DRK-C plate.  I did orange and pink together in ways I never would have dreamed.  No topcoat, so I could enjoy the contrast of the chrome and the matte.

Feelin' Mellow Yellow

I don't wear yellow very often, but I did find a few different swatches from over the past year, so I decided to lump them together into a giant yellow post-it.

Claire's.  Like all of Claire's minis, this has no name.  I wonder what it must be like to work at that factory.  "Can I have more of that color?  You know, the most recent blue?"  Anyway, it was not so good, as you can see.  Streaky!

Model City It's My Birthday.  I layered this over the Claire's polish, but its yellow base was opaque on its own.  I like this one, it's a fun, fresh take on the milky glitter polish with multi-color confetti glitter.

CrowsToes Asterope.  I love a good orange/pink/yellow multichrome, and this is excellent.  Great coverage, nice, easy shift.  The bottom pix shows more of the golden yellow.

LynBDesigns Quincy.  This was a polish I got a while ago, and it sat in my untrieds... for way too long.  I really like it!  The name is cool, too, from her line of polish that has boy's names.  This is a fun, unique polish!

Jessica Banana Peel.  I like Jessica polishes, and they did their best with yellow, but it's still a little streaky.  It's a different yellow, too - a little vintage, maybe?  Nice glossy finish, and I really liked it as undies for the next glitter.

Glitzology Princess Buttercup.  I think Glitzology polishes are pretty cool, but they are usually very thick.  This one applied very nicely, and I was surprised to find that the flowers came out without any digging.  I really liked the pale green glitters and how they looked against the base color and with the yellow glitters.  Probably my fave Glitzology polish to date!
