Happy Halloween!

Hi, Fireflies!

I love Halloween! I have had so much fun with my crazy Halloween manis, and I'm a little sad that this is the last one for this year.

Because unlike Christmas, once Halloween is over, that's IT.  With a quickness.  You don't get until the next holiday to take down your Halloween decorations. You take that stuff down right away, and then go to Target to buy all the Halloween candy for half off.

So, I started off with  - you'll never believe it - Cult Nails Nevermore.  I know. That's just crazy talk.  But then I put this cool iridescent topper, Nightshifter, from Sindie Pop, on top.  I painted my whole thumb with it, and then made little wisps of it on my other fingers.

I picked several images from these two Shany plates - SH01 and SH02.

I made the moon with Cult Nails Tempest, and stamped the other images with it, or with Nevermore.

Screaming, and witches, and spiders, and black cats! (Oh, my!)

Positively Purple 'Parison

I love Indie polishes.  I tend to collect the same (or similar! Similar!) colors a lot, so I picked 4 purple ones and decided to see if they were anything alike. 

Trust me - you can rarely tell everything about an Indie polish just by looking at the bottle.  I have been fooled many, many times.

Whooz Polish Tutu.  I reviewed some other Whooz polishes back in January, and I had bought this one at the same time, but it hid in a corner of my untried drawer and I didn't realize it didn't make it into the review! 

Lots of sparkly holo and blue and pink glitters in a squishy jelly purple base.  It's a little sheer, but I don't know if I'd layer this one because then you lose some of the jelly quality. 

As of now, I'm not sure of the fate of Whooz polish, as their Facebook page seems to be gone, and their Etsy shop is on vacation.  Hopefully, they'll be back!

Sindie Pop Electric Purple.  I don't hear a lot about this Indie, but I should.  Every one of their polishes that I've tried has been amazing.  I had no idea that this polish would have that blue shimmer that really does make this polish look Electric!

Application was so smooth, too.  I'm in love with this purple!

Before I tell you where to find it, let me show you another Sindie Pop.  This is Mrs. Mouse.

But, you're thinking, this isn't purple?  If you can see the bottle, it looks lavender in the bottle!  It only looks pink on the nail.  Very sneaky! 

Fun glitter, though.  Everything applied nicely - no fishing or dabbing with the glitters.  I like the larger blue and the smaller pink and blue glitters together.  You can find Sindie Pop on Facebook and her webshop.

I should have taken a pix of the bottle of this next one all by itself.  It's such a dark purple, it almost looks black.  Yet, on the nail....

Sparkle Nail Lacquer Plum Pudding has a clear base!  Fooled me, again.  I tried to make it opaque, but I just made it lumpy.  This one definitely needs undies if you're looking for a solid color.

I do love the flakie quality, though!  Peeking through the blackened glitter are some really pretty iridescent purples.  I don't even know what color I'd use as undies to compliment all the glitters here!  You can find Sparkle Nail Lacquer on Facebook and Etsy.

Shades of Grey

Let's just address the elephant in the room, shall we?  Yes, I read the books.  Yes, they were trashy and unrealistic depictions of consensual S&M relationships.  Yes, I know they were originally written as Twilight FanFic...  bad FanFic. 

Yes, I kinda enjoyed them anyway. 

I also love grey polish, and have lots of different versions of grey to wear.  I'd like to show you some today.

Different Dimension Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty.  This is the palest grey, almost white base, with white, grey, black, and holo glitters.  Maybe it was the kitty who scratched my index polish, because I have no idea how that got there.

Hare Dead Man's Bones.  Slightly darker, but still a light grey base, with tiny black and white or light blue glitters.  I love this one, and like other Hare's I've tried, great formula.  

Sindie Pop A Black and White Christmas.  This is actually a metallic silver base, with black and holo glitters.  This one would really benefit from a thick topcoat to keep the shine.  The metallic base does tend to hide the holo glitter, but it's still very pretty and easy to work with.

BG Cosmetics Black Ice.  Another silver base, this one has really cool iridescent hex glitters that look like shards of ice floating in the mix.  Not something everyone would notice, but a nice touch for the polish aficionado.  Nice formula, too.

Sonoma Nail Art Very Small Rocks.  From the 'Don't Eat The Polish' collaboration with Silly Bee's Chickadees, this polish is a medium grey with lots of white, black, and grey glitters.  Probably my fave formula, it was easy to apply with lots of glitter and no dabbing needed.

Liquid Glam Girl Next Door.  A medium-dark grey jelly base with lots of holographic sparkle.  Right up my alley.

Fanservice Nails I'll Wait for you.  A microglitter melange - dark grey and holo and blue.  I love the depth the glitter gives it, and it all came together nicely.

Sonoma Nail Art Chalkboard Nails.  An homage to a blogger, this is reminiscent of a chalkboard.  Not that you kids know what a chalkboard is anymore.  (Someone fetch me mah cane!)  Dark, dark grey - almost black, with white glitters.

Because there are so many Indies in this post, I've included either a link to their Facebook page or shop in the name of each polish, rather than at the end of the post like I usually do.  Also, if you're interested in the cute silver hammered ring I'm showing off in many of the pix, it's what actually inspired this post.  I got it from a fellow lacquer aficionado's Etsy shop of vintage things.
