If there are two trends I've noticed on the rise in the world of skincare, it's Micellar Water and oils.  I've been on board with oil for a while now, and have reviewed lots of different kinds and brands.  Micellar Water is new to me, but I've been hearing about it.  I'm really excited to share with you my experience using these two products from Borghese!

The first time I'd heard of Borghese, it was because one of their nail polishes had gotten some buzz, and I scoured blog sales until I found it.  Mediterraneo Sea was blue and sparkly, and I eventually got a backup of it because it was so pretty.  Now, I've gotten the chance to try some of their eyeshadows, lipglosses, makeup brushes, and eyeliner, and they've proven to be worth the buzz! Recently, I got to try 6 of their new Eclissare Color Eclipse Colorstruck lipsticks, and I'd love to show them to you.

Something happened to me that rarely happens to me.  A while back I got an e-mail from Borghese.  In this e-mail, they said, they'd like to send me a gift, a token.  I'd tried a few of their nail polishes, and liked them, so I thought that was pretty cool.

I was expecting maybe a nail polish or two.  I was not expecting this.  And best of all, they sent me two sets, so I'm sharing one with you.  New makeup is a great way to start the New Year!

Sparkly, Spooky Black

I have some black combos to share with you today!

I know it's called ManGlaze, but women like it, too!  I have to confess, I'm seeing more blogs with men painting their nails, and it's pretty cool.

Matte is Murder, a matte black, is one of the first polishes ManGlaze came out with, and it's pretty much their signature color.  In my opinion, they make some of the BEST matte finish polishes available.

I used it as undies for Dandy Nails You Set My Soul Alight, but this glitter didn't really need any undies.  I'm loving Dandy Nails, they just keep putting out great glitters.  I don't usually wear plain black nails, but these multicolored tiny sparkles make it perfect for me.

The undies for this next mani is Sonia Kashuk Tango Mango.  I like her polishes a lot.  Very consistent formula, high shine, great color payoff.  This is a little bright for me, but it's a great Halloween orange!

 ..not that this polish needed any undies at all!  Joe Fresh Twilight is a flakie in a black base.  I thought it would be sheer, but it wasn't at all!

You can only barely see the orange around the edges, which I did on purpose to see if it would pull more of the orange color out of the flakies, but it really didn't.  To be honest, I was al ittle disappointed with the flakie payoff in this polish.  I wanted more.. MOAR flakies.

So I added my own!  Finger Paints Twisted, a lemming I never thought I'd get.  I managed to collect all the Finger Paints Flakies, and this is my fave, by far.  So gorgeous, especially over black.

Another sparkly black mani for you today!  It started off with Revlon Black Lingerie, which I got at Big Lots for about a dollar.  This is a great black!  My camera actually had trouble photographing it because it's so shiny.

Over that, I used Girly Bits Howl at the Moon.  Girly Bits is a very high quality Indie, and this polish is no exception.  Love that glossy black and the gold glitter - perfect for this season, or any season!

Bonus mani!  This one starts with Borghese Notte Black.  It's not as glossy as the Revlon, has a bit more grey to it.  I'd be hard pressed to choose this one over that Revlon or some other deep dark black polish.

This one I covered with Orly Androgenie, which looks like a galaxy in a bottle, but not so much on the nail.  I think it would take quite a few coats to get that look on the nail.

I amped up the sparkle with Lorena Cinderela.  All flakies just look gorgeous over black, don't they?

A little bit of holo sparkle from Out the Door Northern Lights.  Now that's a sparkly party!

More Butter(y) London

Well, this is turning out to be a very Buttery week!  I think I'll continue the trend, because once I started putting these lovelies on, I couldn't stop until I was done with all of them.  I'm a fan!

Next up, Lady Muck!

A light blue.. but not really a pastel in that it has a bit of grey in there.  Very on point with the whole grey trend that I am loving this year.  Can't get enough!

I thought this Borghese Mezzanotte Blue would pair well, and be dark enough for stamping a delicate pattern.  I'm pretty much a novice at stamping, but I try (at least every Sunday) to keep getting better. 

I like stamps like this one because it would be really difficult for me to free-hand such a delicate swirl.

Moving from a greyed blue to a greyed lilac.  This is one of my faves, Muggins.  It is supposed to be a dupe for the HTF OPI Rumples' Wiggin, but I haven't seen that OPI in person, so I don't know.  The OPI originally was less expensive than this BL, but it's become a very sought-after and more expensive bottle of polish, so if you want the color, not the name, you might like Muggins.

I paired this one with a Brazilian polish called Impala, in Deitar Na Rede, a shimmery, sheer grey with hints of purple.  A few wispy passes with a striping brush gave me a fanned detail over Muggins.

 

These lighter colors can still be worn in seasons other than Spring!  Try pairing them with a dark detail or some glitter.  

Indie bling

I'd like to show you some Indie polishes I recently bought.  I haven't really jumped on the 'milky white' glitter train before now, but I love this one by Sparkles By Julie.  This is Water Lily, a shimmery white base with pastel glitters.  No undies.

I painted a few flowers with Nails, Inc Baker Street just for fun.  Really, though, this polish needs no embellishment, and I likely won't do that next time.

I love fall colors.  Unfortunately, here in Florida, we don't get much of a fall season, so I'm just going to wear these whenever I want.  I started with this lovely bronze from Cos Bar, which was sold at Target briefly.  I ordered it online and got one of their summer beauty bags with my purchase, which was pretty cool.  This is a lovely bronze, applied nicely, and I loved the color.

It seemed a natural match to pair it with Lush Lacquer Cheetalicious.  Truthfully, though, I don't think it needed undies - look at that coverage!  I love this look.

Who doesn't love a matte glitter?  Actually, this one I think looks better sparkly, but you gotta try it once, right?

The last Indie for today is over a green base.  I started with Borghese Menta, which was a little too sheer for my liking, so I layered it with NYC Big Money Frost.  I know, I know, it's a frost.  I like them.

Darling Diva Polish makes some of my fave Indie creations.  I wasn't wowed by this one, but it's still pretty.  Hubby thought it reminded him of leprechauns.  I wasn't feeling the dragon vibe, I guess.  It would probably look better over a different color.

Celebrate glitter - Blue My Mind

I remember when blue polish was sooo outrageous.  I was only allowed to wear light pinks and beige polish growing up, and my first real color was red.  Why would someone wear blue polish?  So unnatural!

Now, I love it.  It can really lift my spirits!  I got both of these blue polishes from the CFL Beauty Bloggers swap.  It feels wonderful to rescue a polish and really love it.  This is OPI Blue My Mind, a rich cobalt metallic blue.  I love the OPI formula - no streaks, self-leveling, but any metallic is going to show every flaw on the nail.  Glitter to the rescue!

I wasn't expecting Borghese Mediterraneo Sea to be so opaque, but one coat pretty much covered everything.  It's gorgeous!  And, it dries matte!

After a bit, I couldn't resist getting out my black and white stripers and practicing some curly-q designs.  It's fun to see what works and what doesn't.  I kinda like the heart shape on my thumb.

I liked Mediterraneo Sea so much, I accidentally bought another bottle at Ross when I saw it there for $2.  Have you ever accidentally bought a duplicate bottle of polish?

I'm a little Crabby today

I love getting dressed for an occasion, and now that included my nails!  For a special trip with my best girls to Joe's Crab Shack, I put on some crabby nails!  This look was inspired by this mani from Holy Manicures.

 First, my "beach" was made with Sally Hansen 24 Karat.

The crabs were made by mixing Golden Rose 152 (wine red) and Color Mates Romance (light red).  I used a dotting tool for the eyes (as well as Sally Hansen White Tip and Pure Ice Black Rage) and a small paintbrush for the rest of the crab.

The "water" is Borghese Mediterraneo Sea, a blue matte glitter.

 I had to show everyone, even the waitress, my crabby mani.

I think this is the first time I've matched my mani to my meal.  How about you?
