No More Cracks with Zim's #ZimsCrackCreme

Hello, Fireflies!

There are some products that have achieved a reputation and following that even if you haven't used it, you've heard of it.  For me, Zim's Crack Creme is one of those products.  The name alone makes me want to try it!

Zim's Crack Creme was developed over 60 years ago for concrete workers that needed something to treat their dry, cracked hands.  I think it's such a kick that this herbal treatment with the floral logo got its start in such a macho, dirty industry!

Though Zim's offers several different formulations of their Crack Creme, the original is less a creme, and more of a thin serum.  It comes in a spray bottle for easy application.  It has a spicy-sweet scent, like cloves, that comes from the Myrcia Oil (also known as Oil of Bay.)

Long-time readers may remember that my husband suffers from breakouts of eczema, and I'm always looking for new ways to treat his breakouts.  One thing I love about this treatment is that, because it's a spray, I can apply it on him without getting my hands messy - so even if he catches me with wet nail polish, I can still help him out!

Glycerine, the first ingredient, is an excellent moisturizer, and it helps form a protective barrier on the skin.  Arnica has anti-bacterial properties, and is most often used to treat aches and pains.  I used Zim's Crack Creme a handful of times over about a 2-week period to get the results here.  He can be a little bit macho and not let me apply salves unless he's really in a lot of discomfort, otherwise I would have treated it more often!

I couldn't resist using the bright floral packaging as inspiration for my mani.  Over a white base, I applied Revlon Windfall, and Urban Decay Chaos.  The flower is Zoya Pippa with accents of OPI Red Hot Rio and Eighty4 Champagne Life glitter.
