A Matcha Made in Heaven - Matcha Green Tea, That Is! #KissMeOrganics

Hello, Fireflies!

This story really starts with Target and Starbucks.  The husband and I used to go on regular Sunday dates to our local Target, and when they put in a Starbucks, it seemed like it would just enhance our date - sharing a nice cup of something sweet, strolling through the aisles...

Except, hubby doesn't drink coffee, so we couldn't share that.  We got a few fruit things, but the calories added up fast.

Then, we found the Green Tea Latte, and the skies opened up, a ray of light shon down, and angels sang.  And now, we can make them at home with Kiss Me Organics Organic Green Tea Matcha!

All tea comes from the same kind of evergreen plant.  The differences come in the fermentation of the leaves, primarily.  Matcha isn't fermented at all, and it's made by grinding up the entire leaf - this means that more nutrients are left intact, because you are ingesting the whole leaf, not the liquid brewed with the leaf.

This is also why the origin of the Matcha is important.  By choosing organic, you're getting a leaf that hasn't been sprayed with pesticides.  Kiss Me Organics also tests their leaves to make sure they are pure, and not getting chemicals from industrial pollution, like polluted rainwater runoff.

I knew that a lot of face products use Green Tea for the anti-oxidant properties, so I found a recipe online at RafaNatural to make a face masque for oily to normal skin:
  • 1 tsp. Matcha Green Tea
  • Few drops of Water or Aloe Vera Gel
Put Matcha Green Tea into a small bowl and slowly add water or aloe vera gel.  You don’t want to add too much liquid or it won’t stay on your face.  Aim for a thicker consistency than thinner.
Apply to clean face and leave on 15 minutes or longer if desired.

I used a fresh aloe leaf, and probably about a teaspoon or two of water.

After I applied the masque, I went to find my husband.  His first words? "I didn't know I married an alien."

I know I should have rushed to make a Green Tea Latte, but I was thinking:  Smoothie!  I had everything on hand to make this recipe:

  • 1 Banana
  • 5 ice cubes
  • ¾ to 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or cow's milk, coconut milk, etc)
  • 1 tsp. matcha green tea powder

Don't put the matcha in the blender first, or you'll end up with a green cloud.  Best to add it in the middle.

So easy to make! I did add a little sweetener, and next time I'll freeze the banana, and maybe add more Matcha.

Matcha STRONG.  Hulk SMASH.

Does it get any better than this?  I can practically feel myself getting healthier by the moment.
