Hello, Fireflies!
Today's post is brought to you by my stubbornness and inability to paint a rose. I have done stickers, and blobs, and other permutations, trying and trying again. Today's version is inspired by a blog post from Kerruticles, who got the idea from Gemma Lambert.
It starts with this gorgeous plum holo, Northern Star Polish Yummy Plummy
I use Finger Paints Winter Chill, a blackish-purple textured glitter to make a pseudo-gradient on the tips.
I used my white striper to make these curved lines in roughly rose-like shapes. Squint your eyes and turn your head slightly to the right. Do you see them?
I can never quite get the correct overlap of the lines to mimic the rose petals. I look at the tutorial, I watch, re-watch, and pause the video.. I think I've got it, and then it just doesn't look the same when I do it.
Bottle shot: Northern Star Polish Yummy Plummy, Finger Paints Winter Chill, and a white striper.
I will say, though, that these are probably the closest I've gotten! Some of you will see commas, some of you will see white Skettios floating in a purple gravy. A rare few of you with vision will see the roses, and will help keep the dream alive.
I LOVE that Northern Star base color! Cute mani!
ReplyDeleteI love purple holos, too! She did a great job with Yummy Plummy.
DeleteI see the roses! You did a gorgeous job!
ReplyDeleteYou, my dear, are a visionary! :) thanks!
DeleteI love that Yummy Plummy - gorgeous - pretty with the nail art too :)
ReplyDeleteI have such a weakness for purple holos. Love this one!
DeleteYou did a great job. Mine were done with a nib pen and acrylic paint, which gives much more control than a polish striper (and the ability to rub it out and start again!!).
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that you came to my little blog. Loved your nail art! Thanks for the support!
DeleteI love the purple!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty, I agree!
DeleteThat is one gorgeous purple!
ReplyDeletedark blues and purples are awesome at showing off a holo. I love this one.
DeleteThe purple looks great and the roses are really sweet.
ReplyDeletethank you! You mean.... you mean you *see* them? :) :)
DeleteNot a thing wrong with those roses. Looking good.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! You may want to get your eyes checked, though! lol
DeleteGorgeous roses :)
ReplyDeleteMore visionaries! Geniuses! lol
Deleteglad you are showing the process that you're not perfect at painting a rose! I feel like any nail bloggers are always better at it than me so thanks for showing you are human!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. Stick around! I'm more than human. Completely flawed. I will dance and sing when I get a good nail art, though! I've been doing this because I love it, and surely there is some improvement in practicing a labor of love? I hope!
DeleteGorgeous! The rose turned out pretty well!
ReplyDelete"pretty well" Now that's honest! lol! thanks, Miranda!
DeleteYummy Plummy is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! Beautiful plum shade.
DeleteSo pretty! That purple you used for the base especially.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's easier to look good when you pick good polishes!
DeleteSuper pretty!
ReplyDeleteGalaxy nails! Yummm!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim. I think the air in Colorado is heavily pot-laden now. Galaxy nails? LOL!
