My Patriotic Play with Makeup - Red, White, and Blue!

OFRA and Cover FX are Press Samples.
All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

I didn't think I'd be doing a makeup look for Independence Day, but we got an invite to a friend's party, so I decided to have a little fun with my makeup and nails.  The pix above was taken as we were getting ready to leave, so I'm a little melted!  It has been so hot here in Florida, I scarcely want to leave the air conditioning!

In an ironic twist, I decided to use some of my new Makeup Revolution eyeshadows for this look.  Someone told me recently that the UK looks upon the US Independence Day celebrations as a jilted lover might see their ex celebrating their divorce date.  So, if you like divorce fireworks and cake and BBQ, then this might be your kind of holiday!
The Makeup Revolution palette I chose for this look is called, "I Heart Sin" and it has a large pan of a frosted white shadow called Do It For Me.  I put it all over the lid, up to the browbone, and in the tear duct area.  Then, I took a denim blue shade called Cross The Line, and put it in the crease and outer V.  There's no red in this palette, but there is a dark pink called Colour Crime, and I put that in the crease.  It blended out into a purplish pink color.. not quite red, but close..

I also used my favorite liquid eyeliner, Physicians Formula Eye Booster in Ultra Black, in a small wing, and UD Perversion mascara, as well as my OFRA brow gel in Universal Khaki.

Of course, I had to do a bright red lip! It's a Red, White, and Blue look, after all.  I used MAC Frank-n-Furter for a nice, bold, matte red lip.

Everything I used on my face:  Cover FX Mattifying Primer, UD eyeshadow primer and Perversion mascara, Physicians' Formula Ultra Black, MAC Frank-N-Furter, It Cosmetics Powder Foundation SPF 50 in light-medium, OFRA Blushing Stripes and khaki gel liner, and Makeup Revolution I Heart Sin palette. (not pictured - It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder)

I need to do a little shout-out for the It Cosmetics Bye-Bye Pores pressed powder.  I can't believe I forgot to put it in the picture!  I've never used their famous loose version, so I can't compare, but this stuff is seriously amazing.  I actually use the sponge applicator it comes with, swipe it in the compact and then press and roll it on my face, like a powder puff.  Any excess, I whisk away lightly with a fan or soft powder brush.  It really does give a blurred, airbrushed look.

It wouldn't be a party without some festive nail art, would it?  I used both striping tape and stamping for this look.  The blue is KBShimmer Low and Be Bold, the most amazing cobalt blue creme polish EVER.  I rarely buy Indie cream polishes since Cult Nails shuttered their doors, but I couldn't resist this one.  It's gorgeous.  I stamped the stars over it with Finger Paints Paper Mache and my Mash 49 plate.  The accents are painted red with Sinful Colors Ruby Mine, then I applied tape and painted over it with Cult Nails Tempest.  Stars and Bars!

Did you celebrate this weekend, too?  Did you create any festive makeup or nail looks to go with your party mood?
